Box Revealed

This does come with an informational pamphlet that tells you what you got and that is helpful, as it is a great starting point for me.   Since I do more research on the interwebs after I read the pamphlet, I don’t bother taking a photo of it, for the most part.

As I am still getting the hang of using various tools to help translate Japanese to English, my translations are still rough with the ingredient list.  If you do not see the cosDNA analysis at the end of the list, then that means I am not 100% sure that I translated this correctly.

Candy Doll Lip & Cheek Cream in Cherry Pink  According to NMNL, this product is produced and endorsed by popular Japanese model Tsubasa Masuwaka.  The color is a pretty pink shade that when blended out is hardly noticeable on my light-medium skin.  I was hoping for a cream to powder finish, but no, this is very much a creamy product, so on my oily skin, it will slip, slide and fade quickly away.  I tried this on my lips and the initial application was nice, but once again, this stuff just slips, slides and fades away.  The claims that this is long lasting were not true for me.

Cream products like this one just don’t work on my skin type and busy lifestyle.  If you have dry skin and don’t wear base makeup or foundation, this would be nice ~ or if you have a little girl, this is a cute blush and lip product for her.  Honestly, I do think this is for little girls, not grown women. I am disappointed in this product and I hope that NMNL does not include these horrible cheap cream products that fade so quickly ever again in their boxes, but I won’t hold my breath. RV $19.80 at eBay (No way would I spend almost $20.00 on this product)Lucky Trendy Make Up Block – Compact & Clean (MUB 900) Despite being made in China, this is designed in Japan by Lucky Trendy.  Lucky Trendy has been around since 1887 and was founded in Osaka, Japan ~ they have been making beauty tools and nail care products for over a century, ranging from classic items to innovated products, such as this one.  These are 3 makeup tools that snap together as a stackable.  This model has a eye brow brush, lip brush and a spoolie, which they call “screw”, so it makes for a fun word choice when snapping these all together.I don’t really use a lip brush, so I will use this instead to apply eye shadow highlighter ~ it is nice and small, so I can easily apply the shadow by the corner of my eye.  The eye brow brush can be used not only for adding powder to your brows, but dip it in water, then take a dark eye shadow and use it as an eyeliner brush.  I would do the latter more than the former.  The spoolie is great for grooming my very wild long eye brow hairs.  I wasn’t originally thrilled with this product, but once I thought about how I was going to use it, I am happy with it.  I could only find this on an Indonesian online shop and it was retailing for $11.67.  I personally wouldn’t spend more than $7.00 on this, but there you go. The fact that the eye brow spoolie is called screw is funny – lips screw eyes or eyes screw lips….or screw lips eyes.  Yes, I have the humor of a 5 year old!  RV $11.67

Lumi Deco Nails in “Garden of Flowers”   I am not one for decal nails, but these really are cute!  I will try them over a peach nailpolish.  These are unique because they have one decal that has a micro-thin LED light stuck on it. I had NO idea how this was going to light up or work, and then I read the NMNL pamphlet.  I guess every time you are near some device that uses NFC waves, like a train pass money card or your cell phone, it will light up.   You do need to download a free app, created by Lumi, if your phone doesn’t have the NFC-function.  This is a Japanese app, so make sure you correctly install and activate it on your smartphone.  I don’t think this works on an iPhone, so I am not sure if I can get it to light up.

There were two different designs that you could have received ~ I received the “Garden of Flowers”, which is a nice peach, red and pink blossom design and the other is “Garden Party” ~ which is a blue-aqua and white design.  These have been out for several years, so I couldn’t find anyone selling them. They did retail for around $10.00

Country & Stream Honey UV Water Gel SFP 32 PA+++  WOW!! I love this sunscreen ~ I wrote a full review of it here.  I was looking for a replacement to my now-discontinued 2015 formula of Biore Watery Essence sunscreen and I saw this on Beautius IG feed ~ this is has honey in it and it is watery too ~ I will repeat part of my review here

I like that this has a pump applicator as I can quickly apply this not only on my face, but on my neck and arms.  The texture of this is a very light weight gel-lotion, that quickly turns watery when I spread it onto my skin.  The scent is not heavy, but a nice light honey-lemon scent ~ very pleasant.  This does contain alcohol in it, but there is no alcohol scent to this sunscreen.  This spreads so easily and absorbs so quickly too ~ no white cast and it is almost like I didn’t put anything on my skin!  No tacky residue and it dries down nicely and quickly, without any dewy finish on my already naturally dewy oily skin.  The quick dry is so important when I am trying to get ready for work ~ I am impatient to start with my makeup!   This also easily washes off with soap as well.

If you read my full review, I have more swatches and even compare it to a couple of different sunscreens. I highly recommend this sunscreen and this is a full size bottle too!  Good job, NMNL!! You are saving this box with this product 🙂  180 mL RV $16.90

Angel Recipe Arbutin & Vitamin C All in One Essence  I am pretty thrilled with this item too!  Angel Recipe is the same as DotFree, which I have received previously in my NMNL boxes.   This is an all in one essence that helps brighten your skin tone, helping to reduce blemishes and fade spots ~ its main top ingredients are

  • Arbutin is a natural antioxidant derived from the bearberry plant. Arbutin breaks down into hydroquinone, which is a compound that prevents melanin formation and is a common ingredient in skin-lightening products. Arbutin is much gentler and safer than straight up hydroquinone, however.
  • Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) is a derivative of vitamin C  and is stable, water soluble and less irritating than regular vitamin C. water-soluble, non-irritating, stable derivative of Vitamin C.
  • Saxifraga is a botanical that has astringent and antiseptic properties, making it good for blemish prone and oily skin.  It also has moisturizing benefits as well.
  • Live collagen,  according to Dot Free,  is an ingredient has “superb moisturizing power” and it has a “triple helix structure [that is] identical to the collagen in human skin.”  They also state that it is exceptional and far superior to regular collagen.   This contains live collagen beads and will help restore elasticity back to your skin.

I really like the texture of this essence ~ it is a gel that turns watery very quickly, absorbs nicely ~ a little is all you need as it is highly moisturizing.  It does have a slight bitter medicinal scent to it, but it is light and fades away quickly.  50 mL RV $13.90

Final Thoughts

Honestly, this box was really lacking in several areas, but the last two items, Town & Country and Angel Recipe made up for it.  The cream blush is already in the garbage and I will use the stackable brushes, but I would have liked another full sized tool, like last month. I guess with the 2 in 1 theme, NMNL had to provide us with multi-use products.  I am not sure why the nail decals are multi-use, because they aren’t.  I will try them out on a few nails, but again, this is just filler to me.  I am excited for more samples from Ahola Butter, as I love their hair care products ~ I have purchased the full size ones last month.  The total retail value is around $72.00,  which is almost three times the amount I paid for it.  Did you get this month’s box?  What was your favorite items?
