Unboxing Target December 2016 Beauty Box!

To recap earlier statements I have made in my blog posts about Target Beauty Boxes, Target Beauty Boxes range from $5.00 to $15.00, depending on the products included and they sell out within a couple of days.  I’ve been purchasing Target Beauty Boxes regularly now for a few months and since I dropped Birchbox, it seems that Target fills that space for me ~ I already subscribe to Sephora and The 3B Box for beauty samples (high end and Asian skincare/makeup) and Target fills that need for me for inexpensive, but solid beauty products.  Target will also add health items as well, as beauty isn’t just on your skin, but in your insides 🙂  This box is now sold out at Target.

Target Beauty Box

Get merry and bright with the Target December Beauty Box for Her. In this box, you’ll find a few of our favorite products to keep you looking and feeling festive all season long. Test ’em out and tell us what you think. If you love ’em as much as we do, you can find the full-sized versions at Target and Target.com/beautybox.

Modella Black and White Purse Kit  This is really nice!  I love getting makeup bags and this one is very nice with a cool geometric print in black and white with a hot pink padded interior.  This measures about 7 1/4 inches x 5 inches.  RV $2.97

Goody Ouchless Headwrap and Elastic Hair Tie This is a green headwrap and red tie set and I have never seen a Goody headwrap before.  I think that Target must get items made specially for this box as I cannot find this set anywhere.  I won’t use the tie, as my hair is too short, but I will use the headwrap as this is a nice quick & easy way to pull my hair off my face when I wash it or sheet mask.   These are made without metal bits for a comfortable hold and fit and no snags.  I really love the leaf design on the headwrap.  RV $1.50

Derma e Firming DMAE Moisturizer with Alpha Lipoic and C- Ester I did love the Hyaluronic Acid cream from Derma e, but I am not sure about a firming cream.  I will have to read some reviews first as I feel this might be too heavy for my skin type ~ that said, the Derma e Hyaluronic Acid Cream was marketed for dry skin, but it really works well on my oily skin, so you never know!  Derma e is an eco-friendly, vegan brand that doesn’t use GMO ingredients.   Deluxe Size 1/2 oz RV $3.10

Description: Visibly firm, lift and smooth skin with this skin-firming formula. Rich in moisture and nutrients, this nourishing crème contains ingredients shown to help support healthy collagen and elastin, addressing loss of elasticity. Our formula contains DMAE, known as nature’s firming agent, Alpha Lipoic Acid, known as the universal antioxidant and C-Ester plus moisturizing Jojoba Oil and nourishing Vitamins A and E. This replenishing formula leaves skin thoroughly hydrated, nourished and firmer-looking. Ideal for those who are looking to visibly firm and lift the face or neck. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free, GMO-free. Please Note: DMAE and Alpha Lipoic Acid are highly effective ingredients that may cause an adverse reaction on some skin types. Before starting regular use, we recommend conducting a “patch test” for sensitivity on a small area under the ear below the jaw line. If your skin shows an adverse reaction, discontinue use immediately.

Vichy Pureté Thermale One-Step Cleanser This month, you could get either La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Sunscreen or this Vichy cleanser.  I am pretty much okay with the cleanser and hopefully they will offer the La Roche-Posay sunscreen at another time.  This is a 3 in 1 cleanser that will help detox, tone and remove makeup and it is a milky non-foaming cleanser ~ I guess it is like a cream cleanser but not as thick as it is lightweight.  This is paraben free, made with captelea, a shea butter extract.  It is good for senstive skin types.  Deluxe Size 1/2 oz RV $1.50

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Diethylhexyl Adipate, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Allantoin, Potassium Phosphate, Carbomer, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-25, Methylparaben, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Dipotassium Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Panthenol, Myrtrimonium Bromide, Butylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii/Shea Butter Extract, Parfum/Fragrance cosDNA analysis

Almay Non-Oily Makeup Remover Pads Cleansing and moisturizing is the theme of this box, it seems!  Almay Eye Makeup Remover pads contain aloe, cucumber and green tea to help nourish, hydrate and protect your delicate eye area as you remove makeup ~ it is not oily, so it won’t leave a residue behind.  I love getting eye makeup remover pads as I hate getting cleanser in my eyes!  These are hypoallergenic A blend of aloe, cucumber and green tea removes makeup without feeling greasy or irritating.  These are hypoallergenic, fragrance free and dermatologist tested and REALLY inexpensive!  15 pads RV $1.00

Ingredients: Water, Poloxamer 184, Butylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Hexylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol  cosDNA analysis

Nivea Soft Creme haha These ALWAYS crop in a Target box.  My mom LOVES these and so do I ~ they are the perfect size to toss in the glove compartment in your car and you always have some hand cream handy.  It is a soft, lightweight cream that is not greasy and it absorbs quickly.  Made with some lovely nourishing and moisturizing ingredients with lanolin, jojoba oil and vitamin E and it has a lovely cooling effect when  put it on my skin ~ it looks like sour cream in the jar, but it has almost a bouncy texture as you scoop it out of the  jar.  The scent is pretty generic for a lotion, kinda powdery and soapy at the same time.  Another very inexpensive product ~ lots of bang for your budget beauty buck.  Deluxe Size 23 g RV  60 cents

Ingredients: Water, Myristyl Alcohol, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat., Stearic Acid, Petrolatum, Myristyl Myristate, Glyceryl Stearate, Hydrogenated Coco Glycerides, Dimethicone, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyglyceryl 2 Caprate, Phenoxyethanol, Lanolin Alcohol, Fragrance, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Cetyl Phosphate, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben cosDNA analysis

TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Shampoo  This is actually the second step in the Beauty Full  Volume Series.   This shampoo will help volumize your hair without weighing it down.  I have fine, oily straight hair, so this series is made for me!  RV 50 cents

TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Pre Wash Conditioner So I guess you use this product BEFORE you shampoo your hair. Okay!  I have heard of this condition before you shampoo, but never bothered with it.  However, since conditioning will make oily hair flat, I will give this a try and see if it helps with the volume.  I am not sure it will, as my hair does need conditioner after shampooing, otherwise, it is a tangled mess.   Deluxe Size 1 oz RV 50 cents

Description: Using conditioner after you shampoo can weigh hair down and leave it flat. TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner is designed to be used before you shampoo, to leave hair smooth and polished but still full of bounce. Revolutionary Reverse System with conditioner before shampoo helps you achieve volume and softness at the same time – from TRESemmé. Bounce-friendly formulation, with Fleximax Volumizers and Fiber Polishing Actives, bind to the cuticle to leave hair smooth and polished, even after you shampoo. Hair is left beautifully soft, but not flat. Finish with the Beauty-Full Volume styling range to create beautiful bouncy hair that feels as great as it looks. Condition first, then shampoo to wash away the weight

Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Dipropylene Gylcol, Fragrance, Amodimethicone, Dmdm Hydantoin, Disodium EDTA, PEG-7 Propylheptyl Ether, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lactic Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Acrylates Copolymer, Methylisothiazoloinone

CoverGirl Outlast Lip Color in Ever Red-dy Wellll, I didn’t get Ever Red-dy, which is a standard red lipstick, but Naturalast, which is a warm brown-mauve shade.  As I love neutrals, I am very happy with this shade!  This is such a strange concept, btw.  You have a liquid lipstick and when it is initially applied, it looks a bit glossy and pearlized.  However, wait a few minutes and it does dry down matte ~ and I have to say, I love a matte lippie.  But then CoverGirl gives you a clear balm, which you swipe over the matte color to give it a gloss.  I thought how strange… until I put this lipstick to task on my lips.  This drys down HARD.  It is very dry and almost cakey.  By applying the top coat, it gives it some moisture and a very slight sheen and it looks wonderful.  And this shit is long lasting.  Let me tell you ~ after I swatched it on my hand, I didn’t remove it and slept with that swatch on my hand.  In the morning, it was still there with no smudges or fading.   I had to use an oil cleanser and a facial scrub to remove it, because normal soap and water couldn’t get it off of my hand.  This also translates to lips as well ~ however, if I do eat something oily, it will fade and come off.

I am not a fan of the 2 products, however.  I wish they could have put this in a double ended applicator, instead of 2 separate items, of which I will lose one. I know it.  But all in all, I am impressed by this color and the long wear of this lipstick.  RV $7.99

This month IS A HUGE improvement over last month’s box ~ a cute beauty bag, great lipstick, a new system of washing my hair along with some classic names in beauty products: Almay, Nivea and derma e.  I will try all of the items out ~ maybe not the derma e ~ I do have to be careful with this brand, as many of their products do not agree with my skin type.  The RV was over $19.00, but this was a pricey box at $10.00. They needed to add a few more items in here or make another item or two full size, since they are so inexpensive, like the Almay and Nivea.   Did  you get this month’s Target Beauty Box?  What did you think of it?

Did you get this Beauty Box from Target?   Should Target make this a monthly subscription and what do you think they should charge for it?  They have changed their policy so you can only place one box in one order, as so many people were ordering 10 or 15 boxes at a time.
