Several weeks ago, Jolse, a premier Korean online store, asked me if I wanted to review a brand new item and I was so tempted, but when I researched the ingredients, I discovered it had rose water in it ~ so I had to respectfully decline. As I am allergic to rose, I felt it wasn’t fair to Jolse, the brand or myself to accept a product that I knew I couldn’t use. To my surprise, they asked me if there was anything else I wanted to review from their shop! I didn’t expect that ~ but I went thru their store and decided to review some makeup products ~ just getting out of my comfort zone!
I plan to have reviews of on Missha Matt Painting Rouge as I love a matte lippie and I wanted to see how this compared to The Balm Meet the Matt(e) Hughes, Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB cream, as a reader of mine recommended it for oily skin, and I had to add a skincare item in here ~ Holika Holika Gudetama Lazy & Easy Facial Sheet Mask. I also requested Holika Holika Gudetama Lazy & Easy Jelly Dough Blusher, as I couldn’t resist the packaging.

Gudetama is a Sanrio character is a lazy, grumpy egg ~ his name roughly means “no energy egg” (gude=no energy/strength, tama is from tamago=egg) and he has been resigned to his lot in life, which is to be cooked and eaten. This character has been so popular that there are chopsticks, toys, phone cases, stickers, pens, key chains and now skincare and makeup products with his image!!
Look how adorable this compact is!! I mean, seriously, this is so cute ~ Gudetama jelly dough blusher has the design of his “face” and is even wearing blush :) I requested shade CR01 Grapefruit Pink as I wanted to try a more peachy-pink shade for summer time ~ peach blushes look nice on me and it really brightens up my face. They also offer this compact in shade PK01 Plum Pink, which really leans more to the purple-pink family
This opens up to reveal a mirrored compact, with a puff cushion and a protective plastic film with Gudetama sleeping under a blanket of bacon. I am hungry now for some bacon and eggs ~ ha! The plastic film is a throwaway, but I think it is so cute that I will keep it and pin it to my board at work.
The compact isn’t as sturdy as I would like it to be ~ I feel a couple of good drops on the floor and it will break apart easily ~ I also am not going to carry it around because I don’t want to mess up his face by getting it all scratched up ~ but it is small and compact, it fits in the palm of my hand and if you wanted to carry it around, it is very lightweight too. The puff cushion is useless to me and I use a stipple brush to apply the color or my fingers.
The shade really looks deep and dark in the compact and it really does look like a pink grapefruit color. It has a bouncy texture ~ you can press into it, but it doesn’t remember its shape, so you can still see the indentation in the product where I swatched it. It reminds me of silly putty or… raw dough :D This is a dense cream that does turn to powder after you apply it ~ it does not leave a dewy finish at all, but dries down to a nice satin finish. The color is beautiful ~ I know this is going to sound like a contradiction ~ but it is a vibrant pink shade with tangerine/peach undertones that looks natural when you are wearing it. It is vibrant, because the color is so pigmented, but it applies naturally. This is why I don’t do makeup reviews that often, because I have a hard time trying to explain how the color looks!

This is very blendable and can be built up in color intensity ~ you can create a natural look or a dramatic look, depending on how much you apply on your face. It is pretty long wearing too ~ I wore this blush for over 10 hours before removing it ~ I didn’t re-apply it during the day and this is the first pass from my cotton pad and cleansing water
This also has the BB cream too, but you can see the blush shade on my cotton pad even after 10 hours of wear ~ on a hot, muggy day in Boston, this blush held up really well.
Ingredient wise, I can only discuss what CR01 contains and it does has citrus extracts ~ orange, lemon, lime and grapefruit as well as titanium dioxide, so there is some sunscreen protection there ~ I am not sure how much, because there is no SPF rating on this product, but it is the first ingredient in the list.
Ingredients: titanium dioxide (CI 77891), triethylhexanoin, mica, boron nitride, dimethicone, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, lauroyl lysine, silica, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, quaternium-18 bentonite, citrus limon (lemon) fruit extract, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, citrus aurantifolia (lime) fruit extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, aluminum hydroxide (CI 77002), tin oxide (CI 77861), caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, red 7 (CI 15850:1), yellow 5 (CI 19140), fragrance cosDNA.com analysis
I really like this blush ~ I wasn’t sure if I was going to, as the color looked really intense in the compact. However, it really is very natural looking on my light-medium skin tone and I am also really happy that it is a cream to powder type blush. I found it be to long lasting as well and had staying powder over the course of the day. Have you tried any of the Holika Holika Gudetama items yet? Are you planning on purchasing any? They ARE so adorable!!
You can purchase Holika Holika Gudetama Lazy & Easy Jelly Dough Blusher for $11.46 USD, which is a savings of $2.00 off the retail price. Jolse also has free shipping and gives lots of samples too when you place an order with them. They also carry a lot of Holika Holika’s Gudetama line (click here) which is so cute!! I will have the character masks to try out and will be reviewing them as well.
