boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser & Konjac Cleansing Sponge with Bamboo Charcoal  I really like boscia’s black skincare line and have used them for a few years now.  Their konjac sponges are top quality (but expensive), so I am really happy to get one to use with the cleanser.   Both of these products are used together to help purify and detox your skin, cleaning out the gunk, dirt and excess oil from your skin.  The Black Cleanser warms up slightly as you apply it to your face, so don’t be surprised by the sudden burst of warmth in your skin.    The Konjac sponge may look rock hard and small, but once it is soaked with water, it expands to 2 to 3 times its size and it is so soft and silky against your skin.  Konjac sponges usually are replaced every 2 to 3 months.  This sponge actually looks to be a “mini” version of the full size.  Both the cleanser and sponge do not contain parabens, sulfates or phthalates.  Cleanser Sample Size 30 mL  RV $5.60 Sponge RV $7.00

Cleanser Description: A warming gel cleanser that deeply cleans and detoxifies the complexion. This Black Cleanser heats up on contact with skin to effectively open and de-clog pores. Its gel texture transforms into a gentle and effective lather to dissolve oil and makeup, rinsing away pore-clogging surface debris, impurities, and excess oil. It refines skin texture, brightens skin clarity, and minimizes the look of pores over time.   Artichoke Leaf Extract: Improves elasticity to help tighten pore walls.  Charcoal: Draws out excess oil and impurities as it detoxifies.  Glycolic Acid: Helps clarify skin and smooth rough texture.  Vitamin C: Helps brighten skintone and minimize the appearance of fine lines as it defends from free radical damage.

Cleanser Ingredients: Glycereth-26, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Leaf Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Alpha Glucosyl Hesperidin, Glycolic Acid, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Ceteth-25, Oleth-10, Butylene Glycol, Citrus Paradisi Seed Extract, Xanthan Gum, Water, Charcoal Powder, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil cosDNA.com analysis

Sponge Description:  Konjac Cleansing Sponge With Bamboo Charcoal cleanses and exfoliates to deliver smoother, softer, brighter-looking skin while minimizing the appearance of pores and eradicating blemish-causing bacteria. Formulated for combination to oily skin, the konjac root absorbs debris and impurities, while the bamboo charcoal acts as a natural anitbacterial agent, to cleanse deeply and detoxify pores without irritation. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skin types, it can be used over the face, neck, and even the delicate undereye area. When used regularly, it helps draw out impurities, minimize the appearance of pores, and reduce blemish-causing bacteria .   100% Asian Konjac Root: Absorbs debris and impurities. Black Bamboo Charcoal: Purifies and heals, absorbs toxins and impurities leaving the skin healthier and stronger, acts as a natural anitbacterial agent, and deeply cleanses and detoxifies pores without irritation.  Natural Konjac Root Fiber, Bamboo Charcoal

Dr Jart+Ceramidin Day Tint SPF 15  I am disappointed as when my Play! page loaded, I had Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (pressed) in  my October Box.  Sephora did a switcharoo on us and gave us this Dr Jart product instead.  I haven’t been impressed with Dr Jart items at all ~ a lot of people seem to like them, but every cream I have used from them feels like greasy face paint to me. I really wanted to try the Becca product and it was a pressed powder so it would have been more appropriate for my oily skin.  This Day Tint is for light skin tones. Sample Size .17 oz RV $ 4.80

Description: Ceramiden Day Tint SPF 15 tones, moisturizes, and protects skin from harmful external environment every day. Suitable for sensitive skin, the multiaction tinted formula provides sheer cover for a natural look and can be applied before a BB cream to enhance its moisturizing effects and achieve greater coverage. Ceramides hydrate your skin and the lightweight formula protects from drying—providing a flawless finish.  Dr. Jart presents the Ceramidin™ Collection, a ceramide-based moisturizing range. Ceramides are essential lipids found in the surface layer of the skin that help maintain the integrity of the skin and retain moisture. Due to aging, natural ceramide concentrations in the skin decrease over time, resulting in dry, irritated, and sensitive skin. The collection not only relieves these symptoms, but enhances and restores the skin’s inherent ability.

Key IngredientsCeramide: Help maintain skin structure and retain moisture.  Licorice Root Extract and Aloe Vera: Soothe skin.  Betaine: Softens and moisturizes skin.  Bifida Ferment Lysate: Increases skin’s ability to regenerate.

belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb   ahaha  I actually tried this in August and purchased the full sized one on Sephora. It is a great night cream for me and now that it is getting cooler, I might try using this as a day cream.  My face is so refreshed and hydrated in the morning.  It smells a bit herbal-flower-spicy ~ a nice scent that quickly goes away.   Aqua Bomb looks like a light aqua cream, but it is colorless once you apply it on your skin.   I think in the winter time, when my skin is drier, I can use this as a day cream, but for now, I like it as a night time moisturizer.  According to belif, this cream increases hydration in your skin by 18%!   They have a dry skin version, The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, as well.   The Aqua Bomb does contain alcohol in it, so if you are trying to avoid that ingredient, then please take that into consideration.    Sample Size 10 mL  RV $7.60

Description: A gel-cream that ‘floods’ the skin with a rush of refreshing hydration and minimizes the appearance of pores for soft, smooth, supple skin for normal to combination skin types, including oily skin, and dry skin types looking for a lightweight moisturizer.  Aqua Bomb is an ultra-lightweight, mineral oil-free gel-cream that instantly cools and refreshes skin while providing intensive hydration. This formula contains a blend of apothecary herbs, including antioxidant-rich lady’s mantle, which helps neutralize skin-damaging free radicals, improves skin elasticity, and minimizes the appearances of pores. This refreshing cream is formulated to ‘burst’ when applied, releasing a flood of weightless moisture onto skin, and then absorb completely for a healthy, smooth, supple appearance. Lady’s Mantle: Provides antioxidants and also has pore minimizing benefits; helps remove free radicals from skin.  Malachite: Antioxidant that neutralizes free radical activity.  Plantin: Creates moisture seal on skin.  Oat Husk: Attracts moisture (humectant).

Sephora Pearl Perfecting & Brightening Mask  Sephora is really getting into K-Beauty ~ I purchased some of their sleeping packs (ginseng, green tea and lingzhi) and they are pretty nice.  I haven’t tried their facial sheet masks and when I was looking up the info on Sephora’s site, I was smiling at the comments ~ as someone who has been using facial sheet masks for a while now, it is always cool to read the joy and disbelief over how such a simple product is so effective!  This is the pearl mask and it is supposed to “Perfects and brightens with natural-origin pearl to create high luminosity.”  I wish Sephora would have more affordable masks ~ this  is $6.00, whereas many Korean sheet masks are only $1.00 to $4.50, and this is just a “branded” mask.  Currently, Sephora is offering a free facial mask ~ if you purchase 6 of them, enter code “MASKLOVE” and you will get a $6.00 discount off your purchase order.   Full Size RV $6.00

Description: In a use test on 20 volunteers after 42 days of use: 95% felt that complexion is even
and 90% felt that the product harmonizes skin tone.  Natural White Pearl: Evens out skin tone.  Broccoli Extract: Provides clarifying and harmonizing properties.

fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Instant Infusion Treatment Toner   OHHHH, so excited to see this in my box!!  I love fresh products in general but they are VERY expensive ~ their Black Tea eye cream is one of my favorites, but at $85.00, it is too rich for my blood.  This toner is more affordable at $48.00 (!!) haha.  Black tea is really great as it is full of antioxidants, which combat free radicals and reverse the damage that free radicals can cause to your skin (lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation)  It also has a high concentration of tannins, which is an antiseptic. The Black Tea line uses a fermented black tea blend, which has a long history in skincare and is reported to bring back the radiance to your skin tone and firm your skin complexion.  Alas, I cannot use this, as it contains rose water.  I  am allergic to rose, so this will be a stocking stuffer item.  Sample Size .5 oz RV $6.00

DescriptionAn advanced treatment toner that’s proven to provide 24 hours of moisture and significant protection from environmental stressors while evening skintone and refining skin texture. This radiance-boosting formula softens the skin which allows ingredients to penetrate more deeply, enhancing the efficacy of your complete skincare ritual. A proprietary complex derived from a potent blend of black tea, blackberry leaf extract, and lychee seed extract is proven to inhibit damaging free radicals and improve skin elasticity while polysaccharides help to smooth the skin. The formula is further enriched with Japanese mandarin extract, which helps boost radiance and even skintone; hyaluronic acid, which works to attract and seal in moisture for supple skin; rosewater, notable for its soothing and balancing properties; and vitamins E and C, which help protect the skin.

  • Black Tea, Blackberry Leaf Extract, and Lychee Seed Extract: Proven to inhibit damaging free radicals and improve skin elasticity.
  • Polysaccharides: Help to smooth the skin.
  • Japanese Mandarin Extract: Helps boost radiance and even skintone.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Works to attract and seal in moisture for supple skin.
  • Rosewater: Soothes and balances.
  • Vitamins E and C: Help protect the skin.

Atelier Cologne Collection Azur – Mandarine Glaciale This perfume is so much better than last month’s sample, at least for me!  I love Atelier Colognes ~ they are sharp, clean with a distinctive scent, usually using citrus and herbal scents.  They are very unisex, so both women and men can wear them This does have jasmine in it, but it isn’t note that I can smell, so therefore, it doesn’t affect me.   What I can smell is the lemon, vetiver and bergamot and it is very sharp, spicy and fresh.  It doesn’t have a sweet scent, it is almost bitter in its sharpness.   I really love this scent and Atelier Colognes are very long lasting ~ don’t be surprised that if you put this on in the morning, you will still smell it when you go to bed at night.  I always love getting Atelier samples as they put the most wonderfully designed “postcards” with the perfume. Sample 1 mL (?)  RV $2.89

Description: A completely unexpected experience inspired by ingredients from regions where water and sky become one, Mandarine Glaciale is a citrus, fresh fragrance with notes of mandarin from Calabria, ginger from China, and heart of vetiver from Haiti. The delectable scent casts a spell with cool notes over a juicy cocktail of balanced citrus notes before drying down to a succulent, passionate base reminiscent of a cool breeze through a sun-drenched citrus orchard.  This fresh, citrus fragrance is exclusive to Sephora. It provides the freshness and elegance of a cologne, but is designed to provide lasting fragrance on the skin.

Notes: Mandarin, Sicilian Lemon, Calabrian Bergamot, Ginger, Jasmine, Petitgrain From Paraguay, Heart Of Vetiver, Oakmoss, White Amber.

Style:  Sophisticated. Succulent. Passionate.

This is a fantastic value ~ I paid $10.00 + sales tax (so it was still under $10.50 or something like that) and I received a RV of $39.89!   Despite that I cannot (or won’t) use two products, this is a great box.  I love the mix of K-Beauty with non Asian brands to bring us a nicely curated box of fun and unusual products.

Did you get this month’s Sephora Play! Box?  What did you think of it and what was your favorite item?  I hope that the waitlist is opened up soon, as Sephora Play! seems to be very much in demand!

  1. I’m trying to not be upset but Sephora is really giving me the run around with this box. September, I moved and needed to change my address. It wasn’t done, so no box. October needed a new credit card, called to update, promised it was done and I would get October. It wasn’t done so I don’t get October and I was really looking forward to it. I just feel like I’m being blown off and told I’m not important at all, why should I bother giving Sephora my money?

    1. oh, rachel, I am sorry this is happening to you. Sometimes you just have to keep at a company and let them know. Did you follow up with them on the October box? CS is not shipping, and things might have just gotten “lost in translation” between Customer Service & their shipping department. I hope you get the October box!
