As I was on vacation when Kloverbox came this month (the time it doesn’t come late, I am not around!! haha), I did see the unboxings elsewhere, so it wasn’t a surprise to me. I wrote several drafts of this unboxing as it was really difficult to express how I really felt without sounding too bitchy and I doubt I succeeded with toning it down. This has nothing to do with Kloverbox, as Kelly is fantastic, but just an overall disappointment with the offerings this month. Kloverbox delivers deluxe and full size products and I have been impressed with their packaging and curating of their boxes. Kloverbox is an eco-friendly subscription that you can subscribe month-to-month at $25/monthly, 3 month subscription at $23.75/monthly or a 6 month subscription at $22.50/monthly
This month’s theme is “Make It A September To Remember”
Let’s get the nice item out of the way first.
Baby Baggu in Elephant Jade Print Oh SWEET! I love elephant prints and this reusable bag is in a lovely bright jade color with darker jade elephants. Just cute ~ this is a great size to put in my lunch! It is 10W x 18H x 4D inches and folds flat into a 4 x 4 inch pouch. Made with 100% ripstop nylon and can hold up to 50 pounds (not that I would have a 50 pound lunch ~ or maybe I will!) and best of all ~ you can machine wash it (do not put into dryer!) RV $7.00
Paddywax Apothecary Travel Tin Candle ~ Everyone’s scent would be different and I was unlucky to receive Verbena & Eucalyptus. I normally love Paddywax candles, and own several of them. I love their glass jars, but this is the first time I have received their candles in a gold colored tin. This candle is from their Old World Apothecary line, and they have 8 different fragrances. However, I received the most grossest scent ever from the 8 ~ it smells like bug spray and not in a good way. Seriously, they shouldn’t be putting this scent out on the market as it is really disgusting. I wish I had gotten the Tobacco/Patchouli or Smoke/Amber scent. I guess I will have to purchase my own, but they don’t sell the travel tins at Paddywax, so I will have to purchase a full sized candle. This travel candle is made from soy wax and will have a burn time of 15 hours, but instead, it will be tossed in the trash, as I am too embarrassed to GIVE it away. Travel Tin 2 oz RV $5.00
One Love Organics Skin Savior ~ This is a facial balm and it smells really lovely! It reminds me of a orange-vanilla cream frosting scent ~ very sweet and yummy. I think its primary use is as a cleansing balm, and that is how I will use it. This cleanser removes dirt and makeup, and they claim it won’t strip your skin. It works okay as cleansing balm, as it does dissolve my makeup, but WOW, this stuff really is greasy. Even after rinsing with warm water, I have a film of makeup and oil on my skin. Even with my 2-step cleansing process ~ I first use an oil based cleanser or balm, which helps remove makeup, and then a foaming cleanser, which removes any traces of oil ~ I worry about the richness of this balm. I think I will use it as a hand cleanser instead, as this is too oily and rich for my skin and I worry about breakouts.
My normal test with cleansing products ~ I always add a lot of makeup on my hand to really test out the product
This is a “multi-tasker” balm, so if you have dry skin, you can use this as a moisturizer ~ I personally won’t use it as a moisturizer due to my oily skin ~ and you can even make your own “cream” foundations with this, by adding powdered mineral makeup to it and mixing it for a dewy look (again, won’t be doing that, as I have dewy skin already). All of the ingredients are from natural origin and 92.5% of the ingredients are from organic farming and have been certified by Ecocert Greenlife
OMG, the price tag on it! This is 1 dollar shy of the $50.00 mark. I won’t ever purchase this product as I will only be using it as a cleansing balm and works no better or worse than my Banila Clean It Zero balms or other cleansing oils that I own. In fact, it is kinda worse, as it leaves that oily residue behind on my skin. Perhaps if I had dry skin, its “multi-task” usage claim would make this a more attractive product to me, but I do.not.have.dry.skin. It does smell great, however. Full Size 1.8 oz RV $49.00

Posh Skin Care Bergamot Facial Oil ~ To be clear about facial oils ~ I do use them and I use ones that are formulated specifically for oily/acne prone skin or those specifically labeled as dry oils, as those aren’t greasy ~ just because a brand states it absorbs quickly, doesn’t make it so. I love my facial oils when they are suited to my skin type. If they aren’t suited for my skin type, I break out horribly and my face is an oily cesspool of blemishes and I am in deep depression for weeks until my face clears up and I scar horribly. I mention this only because I am not alone here ~ many oily/acne prone skin types shy away from facial oils because the majority of them are not made with our skin type in mind. However, facial oils can be used by those of us who are oily/blemish prone. But YOU have to pick the right ones for your face, otherwise, you will hate facial oils and want nothing to do with them ~ ever. It took me a long time to finally use facial oils, as the market finally realized that they needed to make them for all skin types, not just dry skin types.
Now onto this facial oil ~ This is the product and the vendor that I am so upset at right now. I looked this product up and it clearly stated: “It is not recommended for acne-prone skin.” Now, I am not that upset over the product not being suited for my skin type as you cannot please everyone all the time. In fact, Kelly at Kloverbox has a great suggestion for these oils that might be too rich for oily or sensitive and that is to use them on your legs after shaving. This is a very rich (ie oily and leaves a film behind on my skin) oil and is so not suited for my face, but my legs will benefit from it. It does smell nice ~ like coffee, which is strange, as it doesn’t look like there is added fragrance to it.
Now why did this vendor upset me? I asked Posh Skin Care on IG if they had a product for oily/acne prone skin types. Their first response was perfect
That’s right, it’s not recommended for acne prone skin because of the richness of the oil! We are currently working on a few new products, one being a facial oil specially made for acne prone skin so stay tuned!
But then they ruined it with a follow up.
We have had people with acne prone skin try the oil and it has worked perfectly without breaking them out. You should test the oil first, it may just work for you!🙂
Okay, they just admitted that their oil was not for acne prone skin on IG. They state it on their website. And yet they come back and tell me to “test it out”? On what? My feet? Oh, my face? Where I can break out and it takes weeks for my skin to heal? I don’t think so. Totally irresponsible and reprehensible of Posh Skin Care to say that when they know that their oil is not suited for acne prone skin types. I got the impression that all they care about is promoting their product, and damn what may happen to my skin (and others like mine). So, yeah, I would have been interested in a formula for acne prone skin from them, until they wrote that little response to “try it” to a user that is concerned about their skin. And they said it on IG, where other people might take their wrong advice. They obviously know that their product is not suited for acne prone skin, yet they still tried to hawk at me to use. It is so unprofessional and they just lost me when they did that. Full Size 1 oz RV $20.00
Description: Our organic Bergamot Facial Oil is a light and very moisturizing oil that is easily absorbed by your skin which leaves it soft and supple. It’s great to use as a daily moisturizer for morning and night. It is not recommended for acne-prone skin. We use organic, cold-pressed and unrefined golden jojoba oil that is anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and reduces irritation that your skin may have. It hydrates dry skin and also helps to regulate the production of sebum in oily skin. We also use organic, cold-pressed and unrefined rosehip seed oil that is an amazing oil that’s packed full of vitamins and essential fatty acids. It is known to reduce scars and hydrate your skin. It evens out your skin tone which is great if you have hyper-pigmentation and corrects UV damage from the sun!
Ingredients: Organic Unrefined Virgin Cold-pressed Golden Jojoba Oil, Organic Unrefined Cold-pressed Rosehip Seed Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil
This month was one of the worst Kloverboxes for me. I love the Baggu bag and the balm smelled nice, but it is too greasy for my face. The facial oil and the vendor involved was totally unprofessional and the candle was the most sickening scent I have smelled in my life, and that is saying something, as I do enjoy unusual scents. I don’t even want to gift it, as it is so horrible. I seem to be the exception in my feelings with this month’s box, however, as other subscribers loved the skincare products ~ I was just “meh” over them, as really, they were not suited for my facial skin type.
I hope that Kloverbox does something for us oily skinned types soon as they have included dry skin type products in their boxes this year, while neglecting oily/acne prone skin types. We are out there, you know!! I know that Kosmatology makes a Lemongrass oil and cleanser specifically for oily/acne prone skin types ~ Lemongrass ~ and it is also for rosacea skin types as well! I just bought those at Kosmatology, as they have a promo for 20% off ~ LEAPINGBUNNY. Great deal!
Don't treat your acne with harsh chemicals. Let nature do the work. With a mixture of lemongrass (a natural toner), rosemary (an anti-infective) and lavender (to control oil production). As well as chamomile and calendula to reduce inflammation and redness. This bottle is a powerhouse for the treatment of acne breakouts but mild enough to use everyday to prevent breakouts in the first place. I paid $18.00 due to a promo code + 6 month subscription and received a value of $81.00 and yet … I am not impressed by this month. Sometimes a higher value doesn’t mean better. I know I am a bit ranty right now, but I am still really upset over the whole Posh Skin Care response and the horrible scented candle. I am looking forward to next month and hoping it is better than this month for me. I honestly don’t want to remember this September’s box!! If I do, it will be for how badly suited it was for me. Again, you cannot please everyone and I expect this in subscription bags, but this month was a doozy for me. Do you subscribe to Kloverbox? What was your favorite product this month? I love my elephant bag ~ sometimes the best things are the least expensive!
