Ohhh, September, end of summer, but the county fairs are still going strong, with crisp days, apple cider and fried dough! This month’s Flicker Box is dedicated to “County Fair” and the return of a couple of favorite candle artisans! What is Flicker Box?
Flicker Box is inspired by a love and appreciation for handmade candles. We believe that people appreciate products produced by quality artisans made in the United States. We want to connect candle lovers with people who love to make candles.
Each Flicker Box contains a variety of artisanal candles made from candle artists from around the United States. We share their story and ship subscribers a delightfully curated box right to their doorstep. Flicker box costs as low as $25/month and can be purchased as an automatically-renewing monthly subscription or 3, 6, or 12 month term subscriptions. from http://myflickerbox.com/about
Starting on the left, going clockwise: Copper & Kraft Candle “Funnel Cake”, Eco Candle Co “Melted Caramels” Tealights, Copper & Kraft “Cotton Candy”, Eco Candle Co “Apple Orchard”
Copper & Kraft Candle “No 322 Funnel Cake” ~ I love Copper & Kraft candles ~ they do hold their scents well and these foodie candles are no exception! Funnel Cake = Fried Dough = It’s all the same to me = DELICIOUS!! This is a vanilla cake batter scent, rich with sugar & cinnamon sweetness. Copper & Kraft is an etsy shop and I love that Flickerbox really uses artisan candlemakers! Copper & Kraft is a Syracuse, New York company and they use natural creamy soy wax ~ no dyes ~ lead free cotton wicks, Phthalate free fragrance oils This comes in a cute tin, that can be reused or recycled. Burn time is 25-30 hours. 4 oz candle RV $6.95
Eco Candle Co “Melted Caramel” Tealights ~ When I opened up my box, this was the scent that hit me first! I am a huge fan of Eco Candles and my mother just loves the Peony candle that I received in my May Flickerbox. This is amazing, 10 caramel colored and scented tea lights, each with a burn time of 10 hours ~ so 100 hours total! Oh these smell so good, just like caramel popcorn ~ or as Eco Candle describes it “a pot of rich, gooey melted caramel“! Eco Candle Co is located in Appleton, WI and this is a 100% soy candle, made from midwest-grown soybeans. 10 tealights RV $10.00
From Eco-Candle: The benefits of eco-candles (source)
- cleaner burning – no toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means it’s less likely to trigger allergies. no petrol carbon soot like you get from petroleum-based paraffin candles.
- longer lasting – soy wax burns cooler which means that you can enjoy your soy wax candle for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle.
- supports our american farmers (instead of foreign oil conglomerates).
- biodegradable and water soluable. since our candles are made out of soybeans, they are naturally biodegradable which makes accidental spills easier to clean.
- stimulates the economy by utilizing a natural, renewable resource.
- our soy wax is certified kosher, contains no herbicides or pesticides and is genetically unaltered.
- we only use high quality scents and dyes.
- no lead or zinc cored wicks – ever! all our wicks are made of either cotton, paper or hemp.
Copper & Kraft “No 356 Cotton Candy” ~ Another Copper & Kraft candle, with a burnt sugary, strawberry scented cotton candy candle. This is one that I will gift, as I know someone who will LOVE this scent! It is a very sweet berry scent in a handpoured creamy soy candle with the classic Copper & Kraft tin ~ which are made from seamless aluminum and rolled edges. Clean out the tine with soap and warm water once the candle has burned down and reuse or recycle. Burn time 55 -60 hours 8 oz RV $10.95
Eco Candle Co “Apple Orchard” Another lovely Eco Candle, this time in a spicy apple scent ~ “crisp, juicy red apples straight from the orchard” This candle comes in a glass tumbler with a paper lid and a rustic brown paper label with Eco Candle’s logo. This is a gorgeous color too ~ chili pepper shade and it is so fall-like and festive! This is a great harvest candle and all I need are for the leaves to turn color here in the Northeast and I will have a lovely table setting! I do hope that Eco Candle gets featured near the holidays, as they have scents like Figgy Pudding, Winterberry, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Ride and Christmas Pear ~ YUM! 5 oz tumbler Value $11.00
Last month’s box was amazing, this month’s is amazing! Last month had smokey, spicy desert scents and this month is a foodie’s delight! I would have to say that Melted Caramels and Apple Orchard are new favorites and I love Funnel Cake too! All of the scents are amazing ~ sweet and very fun! This is just a great sub box for candle lovers and I am glad I am being introduced to so many different scents and artisan companies. This box’s value is $38.90 and I paid $34.00 for my box, as I am on a month to month subscription. I have no plans on stopping this sub!
