Memebox August 2015 Mask Unboxing!

I love masks (see all my blogposts with MaskGenie, Hauls, Beautibi, and of course, Memebox) and never miss a prime opportunity to nab some facial sheet masks, even though I probably (not probably ~ I KNOW) have too many masks ~ plus how could I pass up the opportunity to get a mask made from kelp?  Memebox came out with a Mask box the other week, called the “August Masks” Box, so I am wondering if they will have monthly mask boxes…..hmmmmm….Good idea, Memebox!

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.  If you are new to Memebox, you use my referral link here and get 20% off your first order of $25.00 or more!

Informational Card

Petitfee Gold & EGF Gel Mask Pack  There are two of these masks by Petitfee.  I have used eye gels in the past by this brand and they are fairly decent.  This is an intensely hydrating mask that will deliver moisture and nutrients to firm and cool your skin.  This is hydrogel mask and contains gold, which will soothe and help with blood circulation and EGF (epidermal growth factor) which helps with promoting resiliency in your skin and overall skin health.  This mask also has powerful herbal antioxidants, such as green tea, ginseng and aloe vera extracts as well as caviar and deep sea water to provide vitamins and minerals to your skin.  I love the description on the back ~ they are trying so hard to be “scientific” but kinda missed the boat with describing the ions  ~ I never heard of ion charges as plus or minus, but as positive or negative😉 Full Size 30 grams (2x)  Value $7.00

In human body, there is always weak electricity flowing. This is related to the movement of plus and minus ion. If the ion is weightier on one side, it damages skin health. Gold makes the movement of ion normalize thus it activates blood circulation, physiological function of skin and recovery of skin.

Full Size 30 grams (2x)  Value $7.00

Description: Offer your skin a luxurious treat with this Petitfee Gel Mask. This sheet mask delivers spa-like results without the need of ever leaving your home! Formulated with nutritious ingredients like green tea, ginseng and caviar extracts to deliver outstanding results and nourishment.

PhytoTree All Day Cheese Essence Mask *snickers*  okay, who cut the cheese?  Yes, I do have a sophomoric sense of humor sometimes…. I love South Park too, so sue me!!   This mask contains 250 mg of whey, which will act as a gentle exfoliant because cheese whey proteins contain AHA’s.    I’ve had products that contained cheese and whey proteins before and they didn’t smell like cheese, so I do hope this is the same with this mask!  The whey doesn’t intrigue me like this ingredient: tremella fuciformis sporocarp, which is a white mushroom originally found in China  It has been used in Chinese beauty skincare for centuries and clinical tests have shown that this ingredient protects your skin, is an anti-inflammatory and contains a polysaccharide that can hold up to 500 times its weight in water and with continued use, your skin can retain moisture.   I do love PhytoTree’s creative food packaging on their skin care products ~ even their cheese mask is in the shape of a wedge of cheese!  Full Size 25g  Value $2.00

Ingredients: water, glycerin, whey, xanthan gum, panthenol, betaine, butylene glycol, biosaccharide gum-1, sodium hyaluronate, tremella fuciformis sporocarp extract, chlorphenesin, phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, caprylyl glycol, arginine, carbomer, sodium polyacrylate, fragrance, 1,2-hexanediol, propanediol, disodium EDTA, illicum verum (anise) fruit extract analysis

Botanic Farm Polar Energy Hydrogel Mask Pack Camel Milk (Anti-wrinkle)    When I purchased the Botanic Farm Box, this mask was included, so I have tried it.  This is a two piece hydrogel mask, which aren’t my favorites because of the sliding issues, but  this one doesn’t seem to slide as badly as other hydrogel masks.  The mask has a mesh surface, like most hydrogels but the essence is a bit more thicker, so I wonder if that helps “glue” it to my face.   Make sure that you put the gel side (it will be thicker) towards your face, not the mesh side, as it will absorb quicker that way. This is a nice soothing mask that doesn’t smell like anything and it does leaves my face very smooth and hydrated.  The essence is thicker, as I mentioned, so I do have to let it absorb after I remove the mask.     Camel milk is very similar to human milk and is reported to protect your skin against external environmental stresses, preventing wrinkles and correcting wrinkles.   This hydrogel mask contains 1000ppm of camel milk, along with milk proteins, oat, ginger and green tea extracts.   The information on this mask mentions “Lactoferrin” and that is the protein found in cow’s milk and human milk.  This mask not only has camel’s milk, but milk protein extract, which I will assume is cow’s milk.   It is an anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent.   Full Size Value $5.00

Description: This hydrogel mask is specially designed to effectively seal the nutrients it supplies the skin. This mask mainly contains of Camel Milk Extract (1,000ppm) which is rich in anti-aging ingredients. This helps keep the skin firm and supple to prevent further development of wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps balance the skin’s moisture levels for it to look radiant and healthy all throughout the day.

How to use: After washing and toning, carefully remove this hydrogel mask sheet from its packaging to avoid tearing the mask or spilling the essence. Gently place the mask onto your face and leave it for 20~40 minutes. Afterwards, warm palms by gently rubbing them together and wrap your hands around your face to allow better absorption.

Ingredients: water, glycerin, butylene glycol, Adenosine, chondrus cripus (carrageenan), Camel Milk (1,000ppm), Milk Protein Extract, Avena Sativa (oat) meal extract, Glycyrrhiza Blabra (licorice) root extract, Zingiver Officinale (ginger) root extract, schizandra chinensis fruit extract, coptis japonica root extract, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, ceratonia silqua gum, chlorphenesin, disodium EDTA, cellulose gum, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, sodium polyacrylate, allantoin, calcium carbonate, corn starch modified, 1,2-hexanediol,  caprylyl glycol, fragrance analysis

Tonymoly Earth Beauty Kelp Mask   WOW ~ this mask is actually made from sea kelp, not cotton or silk.  I am most excited about this mask out of all of them, because of how the sheet mask material!     The mask is made of kelp, which contains “90.37% eco substances (ingredients) rich in marine nutrients”.  This is a boosting mask that also detoxes, as kelp contains alginic acid, which will help absorb toxins, such as heavy metals, from your skin.    This mask is a moisturizing mask as well and contains some really nice ingredients:  Aloe Vera ~both regular and fermented filtrate, Natto Gum ~ fermented soybeans, Dong Quai ~ this is a very popular and traditional Asian herb, also known as female Ginseng and Chinese Angelica and has been used in China for over 2,000 years, alpha-Bisabolol ~ which is an anti-inflammatory, Wild Yam, fermented Chlorella,  Royal Jelly  and I could go  on and on ~ this mask has a lot of plant extracts in it!  Full Size 25g Value $6.00

Initial Impressions

Well, I have to say I never have seen a mask quite like this before! It is a piece of kelp, for sure :D  It is thicker than most masks and does have the same slimy feel as a hydrogel. Unlike a hydrogel mask, this one didn’t slide too badly down my face, as it does not really act like a “second” skin to my face.  It does have a bit of a hard time contouring to my facial shape ~ you can see that especially with my nose and chin in the photo below (yes, I did a rare selfie!!)  That said, it is a very refreshing and cooling mask and the scent is a seaweed scent ~ I personally didn’t have issues with it, as I do love the smell of kelp, but if you aren’t used to it, it might be off putting.  I find the scent not to be overpowering, however, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

As you can see, the essence is a yellowish color, which I do think is because the green color of the kelp “stained” it.  There is enough essence on this mask and what little remained on the plastic protector sheets, I just put on my neck and arms, you can even see a bit of kelp stuck on my neck!   After I removed the mask, I did have yellow essence spots all over my face, but I just patted it in.  I do recommend that this mask be used at nighttime, before you go to bed, to get the full benefits of the ingredients.   I found that my face was smooth, hydrated and very moisturized, even after I woke up in the morning!  I purposely didn’t put a sleep pack on, just to see what the effects would be like.   I really do like this mask, and I want to try the other Earth Beauty masks in this series ~ mud, rice and bubble.

Description: This sheet mask is made of real sea kelp and soaked in a moisturizing, elasticity boosting essence to reveal beautiful skin. The sea kelp acts as a magnet that attracts harmful bacteria and pollutants to detox the skin, while the essence is rich in minerals and active ingredients that will boost the skin’s collagen production so skin can remain youthful.

How To Use: After cleansing and toning carefully apply the sheet mask. Leave on for 15~20  minutes and remove. Pat remaining essence for better absorption.

Ingredients: Laminaria Japonica (kelp), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Laminaria Japonica (kelp) Extract, Lactobacillus/Aloe Barbadensis Ferment Filtrate, Serenoa Serrulata (saw palmetto) Fruit Extract, Angelica Polymorpha Sinensis (Dong Quai) Root Extract, alpha-bisabolol, Trigonella Foenum-Graecum (fenugreek) Seed Extract, Natto Gum, Leonurus Sibiricus (Siberian motherwort) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Dioscorea Opposita (Wild Yam) Root Extract, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Root Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris (bamboo) Leaf/Stem Extract, Chlorella Ferment, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Corylus Avellana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Angelica Keiskei (Ashitaba) Leaf/Stem Extract, Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Fruit Extract, Royal Jelly, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Xanthan Gum, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Plantago Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Adenosine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (lemongrass)  Oil analysis

Goodal Daffodil Moisture Mask I own a couple of Goodal Mask packs and I do like them a lot.   I haven’t tried their Daffodil mask yet, but this does seem to be a great one for me, even though it states “dry skin”.  It contains tea tree, green tea and rosemary extracts, and those are great for all skin types!      Full Size 25mL Value $3.00

I am really impressed by the Tonymoly Earth Beauty mask, as it is very unique to me,  and need to check out the different types.  I wish Memebox would carry this series in their shop.   I am pretty pleased with this box, with the Tonymoly and Goodal masks, as those are premium masks.   If Memebox continues to offer a “monthly mask” box, I would love to see things like clay packs, wash off masks, foot/hand masks and eye masks as well as facial sheet masks.   I paid $15.00 for this box and received a Memevalue of $26.00.  The August Mask box is currently sold out, but you should check back often at Memebox, as they might restock it.   If you add it to your wish list, I have been told that they do track those and popular items in the wish list are taken in consideration to restock😀

Did you purchase the August Mask Box and what did you think of it?   Any favorite products?  I hope this means that they will be doing a monthly mask box🙂

There are quite a few boxes available at Memebox.  I have unboxed several and if you are interested in reading about the contents, please check out my blog posts
