Unboxing August 2015 Mishibox!

I am on my third month now with Mishibox and so far, it has been a bit of a miss for me.  I have been using K-Beauty products for a while now, so I am not a newcomer, and I was hoping that Mishibox would fill a massive void in the K-Beauty world by providing a subscription box filled with Korean brands that were not as well known and unusual products.    Let’s see what August brings and how Mishibox did!   What is Mishibox?

MISHIBOX is a U.S.-based Korean beauty discovery subscription service that delivers a combination of 4-6 deluxe-sized samples and full-sized Korean beauty products to you every month to help you discover your favorite Korean beauty products.

Our mission at MISHIBOX is to help you explore the world of Korean beauty and discover your favorite products in a convenient, effortless, and affordable way. We want to make Korean beauty products accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of where you live or what language you speak.

The cost of this subscription is $18.95/monthly (for now ~ it will go up to $19.95) and that does include shipping.  This box is only available for USA addresses at this time.

Yadah Anti-T Toner and Emulsion   I do like the Yadah line ~ this brand likes to feature cactus (prickly pear) ingredient in their product lines.   This small sample set is a soothing kit that targets oily and blemish-prone skin.   These two products not only contains Opuntia Ficus (prickly pear), but 3,000 mg blackberry root extracts, which will control excess oil and also has anti-inflammatory properties.  The Opuntia and Aloe Vera ingredients will well help soothe and calm skin.   Both products are non-greasy and the prickly pear extract will provide hydration and moisture to your skin.  The Anti-T toner will tighten your pores and reduce the appearance of pore size, while calming and soothing your skin.  The Anti-T emulsion will mattify your skin, while providing moisture.  These two Yadah products are free from parabens, artificial pigments, mineral oil, animal materials, artificial scents and TEA.  I have really liked the Yadah line in the past, and I wish that one of these two items was full sized.  Anti-T Toner Mini Size 8mL Value $1.76  Anti-T Emulsion Mini Size 8mL Value $1.84

The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Moisture Emulsion  I have received the toner before in a Beauteque bag and I just received this emulsion in my Memebox Food Ingredient Box and this product line is just not for me.  It is more for drier skin types and when I had sampled it last year, it made me break out in acne.  Plus this does have a floral scent that I do not like.  It is too bad, as some of the benefits are brightening and even out skin tone due to hyper-pigmentation.   However, I have read good reviews on this product for dry skin types, so it just isn’t for me!  I just wish that this emulsion was the mini and the Yadah Emulsion was full sized…

  • Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract (1%) will soften and moisturize skin
  • Ceramide 3 (.001%)  will hydrate and repair skin
  • Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil (.01%)  is a softener

Full Size 150 mL Value $12.00

Description: The Face Shop Rice Ceramide Moisture Emulsion relieves dry skin and reduces flaking with the use of ceramide, which helps to maintain the skin barrier. Rice extract corrects skin texture by reducing the appearance of dark spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation. The lightweight formula makes it a perfect daytime moisturizer and provides a radiant, brightened complexion.

Tonymoly Panda’s Dream White Hand Cream  It is a sad thing when the only two items that I am excited about in a box are a facial sheet mask and an adorable hand cream.   Believe it or not, I do not own this hand cream ~ I have the cooling Panda stick, which is nice, but I have SO many hand creams that I couldn’t purchase this one, even though it is so sweet.   Well, I finally got it!  Korean Kawaii packaging is top notch and I love the little panda’s expression while he is holding his bamboo leaves.   And this DOES contain bamboo extracts ~ sprouts and sap, to be exact!  The primary ingredient is shea butter, to help really moisturize your hands, and it also has manuka honey extract which will nourish and heal your hands and niacinamide, which is a brightening and whitening ingredient and will even out your skin tone, while lightening hyper-pigmentation.   This has a nice light fruity scent to it and is a decent hand cream.  I will be bringing it into work, just to have it as a conversation piece!  And it is fun to look at🙂 Full Size 30 mL Value $12.00

Ingredients:   Purified Water, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Stearate, Polysorbate 60, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Polyglutamic Acid, Honey Extract, Phyllostachis Bambusoides (bamboo) Juice, Palmitic Acid, Cyclohexasiloxane, Stearic Acid, Sorbitan Stearate, Beeswax, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Xantan Gum, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance    cosDNA.com analysis

Tonymoly Delight Lip Tint  in 2 Red This was randomly selected from 1 Cherry Pink, 2 Red and 3 Orange Cha Cha.  I have received this red shade so many times in the past and just recently with The 3B Box.  I have received the Cherry Pink in the past as well.  I cannot use this lip tint because of the formula ~ it has rose in it and I am allergic to rose ~ I didn’t know the ingredient list for this product for such a long time and I wondered why I had such a reaction to it.  Now I know why!!  This does seem to be a popular item, but the color red is really eye popping red and doesn’t look good on my warm tone.   It probably looks great on cooler toned skins.  However, for a discovery box, this is an old item.  I am sure there are newer types of lip tints out there.   Full Size 9 mL Value $6.00

Description: Tony Moly Delight Tony Tint is a liquid type tint 98% of water-base that express clear and animate lips color and helps to boost the luster of lips. Bring your lips to life with a plumping voluptuous red color. Contains Rose hip oil, jojoba oil and argan oil to ease the absorption, restore cells, and create more supple lips. Also contains other nourishing ingredients to help lips look more lively and vibrant. Benzophenone, animal raw materials, talc FREE  (source)

How did Mishibox rate this month?  Weellll…. I can see they are trying to balance the popular and just-about-every-KBeauty-Addict-Has-These-Products with the Unknown-Brands or brand new product lines.   This box, however, is another “meh, shrugs shoulders”  for me.  I do appreciate the Yadah products, as I do enjoy this brand, but the SAMPLE SIZES…Arggh.  I would rather have a full sized emulsion or toner from Yadah and not from The Face Shop.   The Panda hand cream is very cute but the lip tint is something that beautynetkorea.com was giving out free (full size) last year for months.    A better lip tint?  Chosungah 22 Dual Lip Tint & Gloss.  I purchased mine at Sephora in the Velvet combo, but they have 3 other shades to choose from too and sephora.com does do international shipping to certain countries – check it out!

Mishibox is getting a lower rating this month, because it is their 3rd month in ~ I give this box a 5/10 for K-Beauty Addicts.  If you are new to K-Beauty, this is a fantastic box for you.   I do give them 10/10 for packaging and presentation, but it is the products that count in the end. I never have Mishibox envy when I see the IG pics go up ~ I always get my box a few days later than some ~ and that is an indicator that I personally find the products to be boring.  Another thing that they do that other K-Beauty sub boxes do not do is provide the ingredient list on their website.  That is something I wish all of the K-Beauty sub sites would do, and not just give us a few key ingredients (I am talking to you, Memebox!)

I am going to give them one more month and decide.  September is my birthday month, so here is hoping that they have found new brands or exciting new product lines from popular brands ~ Mishibox could have Tonymoly in there if the product is brand spanking new and that would be fantastic!     I paid $18.95, including shipping and received a MishiBox Value of $37.10.  Again, just like Beauteque and Memebox, MishiBox value just means that you can find these products much cheaper elsewhere ~ and you can, especially with the Tonymoly and Face Shop items.

Did you receive this month’s  Mishibox?  What did you think of it?

    1. I think beauteque is a better right now, even though it is 9 dollars more. Beauteque had a rough start, but they seem to have hit their stride. They also include products from Taiwan as well, so that is nice change. I most likely will drop mishibox after next month. I really wanted to compare the 2 subs to see which one comes out on top, and so far, beauteque is winning, hands down. The lip tint is amazing! it is more pricey, but the color is so lovely and it does have a lip gloss as well.

  1. I feel the same way- I canceled.
It’s not that I don’t think they’re good for newbies, I just don’t want to keep spending my money on things that I’m not really interested in or I already have 3-4 of etc. I keep 3B because it’s inexpensive and just a fun thing to get in the mail, but if I’m going to spend $20 a month on one box I expect it to be curated well. Even if they sent LESS items that were of nicer quality or lesser known brands etc I would be happier!
