Unboxing July 2015 Beauteque Bag + sneak peek into August!

Beauteque is an online Asian beauty store, located in the USA, that specializes in K-beauty.  They offered a monthly bag, where you will get not only K-Beauty items, but Asian skincare, cosmetics and even Western items, but it primarily focuses on K-Beauty. For full disclosure, unless I state otherwise, all items that I review on my blog are paid for by me and this review is no exception ~ I am paying for the monthly subscription service and am not being compensated for this review.

This month’s theme is Picnic of Pretty!  This month’s bag is a cute yellow and white gingham print.

July is here and it’s the perfect weather for a picnic, a Picnic of Pretty, that is!  Everything you need
to look and feel your prettiest for a perfect day at the park is packed into this bag.  Pretty and practical, the contents range from lip treatments to body wash, blusher to sunblock.  Wherever you’re going to be this summer, we’ve got  a goodie for it in this pouch!  Keep summer going in style with all this month’s bag has to offer!

The Yeon Jeju Hallabong Mini Pack   This is a real cute mini pack of 3 different wash off masks from TheYeon ~ a brand that I have chatted a lot about here on my blog.  So happy that Beauteque put this in their bag.   This set contains 2 of the Jeju Hallabong Energy Live Pack (2x), Pore Ghassoul Pack and Peeling Gel   I actually own 2 of the 3 products in this mini kit, and have reviewed them ~ Live Energy and Pore Ghassoul Pack.    If you want to know more about the key ingredients and their properties, I do blog about them in those reviews, so check them out!   I will repeat the product review here for those 2 products and then talk about the Peeling Gel, which I haven’t tried yet.  I am going to save this sampler for my vacation, as these are a great travel size for some spa nights! 10 mL x 4 Value $10.00

Live Pack   The Yeon’s site is confusing, as they have this listed under sleeping packs, but this is really a wash off massage pack that smells, of course, delightfully of tangerines and citrus.  Honestly, is this the reason why I am attracted to these products?  Probably!  But I also love the results too.  The texture of this wash off gel is as if you took Jello before it “set” and used a fork to break it up, then let it set, in little chunks.    It is a very gloppy mask and I have to carefully apply it to sections of my face, massage it in so it stays on my face and not fall off of it, and then work on the next section of my face until fully covered.  The instructions state to massage it for 15! to 20! minutes!!!!!  I don’t think so!!  I leave it on my face for 20 minutes, then massage it for another minute or two before rinsing off with warm water.  I also use a cleansing water to remove any residue that might be left on my face.  The original description and usage instructions were really bad, so I tried to clean it up a bit, but I love the ground Hallabong description!! ahaha   This does have a nice cooling effect on my face and after I rinse it off, my skin is moist and smooth.   I do think this is a nice enough wash off mask, but nothing ground shaking.    Full Size 100 mL Value $22.00

Description: Energy cooling moisture pack of which bouncy contents that look to be made of up ground Hallabong provides cooling and moisturizing effect.  Prepares skin gives a lively give energy to the skin, while protecting the skin against irritation and keeps more moist and flexible.

How To Use: Pat on the face, neck or shoulders, avoiding eye and mouth area, massaging in 15 to 20 minutes, rinse off with cold water.

Pore Ghassoul Wash Off Pack     Since this is made with citrus (hallabong is an orange), this clay mask smells like oranges and it is quite lovely. It is an ugly grey-green color, but it is a smooth clay mask, made from Moroccan ghassoul (lava clay),  mandarin orange (also known as hallabong), kiwi, broccoli, avocado, cocoa seed and lemongrass extracts ~ full of Vitamin C and antioxidant ingredients!  This mask goes on smoothly, has an initial cooling feeling and it does dry down to a traditional clay mask, but doesn’t dry my face out.    This is due to the cocoa seed extract and avocado fruit extract in the clay mask, which are highly moisturizing.  You would think this would be in competition with the bentonite, kaolin and Moroccan lava clay, but this all works together to make a clay mask that works for all skin types.  My face does feel wonderfully clean, moisturized and refreshed with the orange scent, removes impurities and controls sebum (oil) due to the clay ingredients and this mask also exfoliates due to the fruit enzymes and it soothes, as aloe vera is a main ingredient as well.   To use, just apply on clean face, avoiding eyes and mouth, and then rinse off after 10 minutes.  If you have oily skin, let the pack dry completely and then rinse off with lukewarm water.   I use a big old facial sponge to help remove all of the clay mask ~ it does help!  Full Size 100 mL Value $22.00

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Bentonite, Kaolin, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch,  Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract,  Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, Cymbopogon Citratus (lemongrass) Extract, Moroccan Lava Clay, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Xanthan Gum, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA  cosDNA.com analysis

Peeling Gel I shouldn’t chuckle at the official English translation below for the official description, as hey, I cannot write in any other language besides English, but I have to wonder if TheYeon just uses Google Translate instead of actually translating the words properly.   I also don’t know what Scrum has to do with this ~ scrum is a term for Agile project development and tracking, so that one is a head scratcher!  Scum, maybe?  Even then, scum sounds horrible to have on your face and to massage it in!  If this is a traditional peeling gel, you would massage in a small amount on your already clean and DRY face.  This would then produce little balls of “stuff” that is the captured dirt, oil and dead skin cells from your face.   Yeah!  No scrum here!  I am saving this for my vacation, so I won’t open this now.    Full Size 100 mL Value $22.00

Description: Theyeon Jeju Hallabong Energy Peeling Gel is a feeling gel softening keratin on the skin surface and removing unnecessary keratin through massage. Applying on the skin and light massaging causes natural cellulose mass absorb waste and old keratin and remove it mildly, the skin texture be smooth and moisty. Fruit acid knows as being  rich in Hallabong and Kiwi makes keratin soft and tangerine skin extract does skin care flexibly and softly. Massage’s physical effect, Hallabong, kiwi, tangerine skin extract helps clear skin care.

How To Use: After washing the face, remove moisture, take proper amount (about 500 won coin), apply over the face except for around eyes and the mouth, massage with two hands. Once massage starts, scrum is formed, then massage with this scrum another one minute, and rinse it with lukewarm water.

Ingredients: Purified water, Butylene Glycol, Cellulose, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Fruit Extract, Alcohol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Cymbopogon Citratus (lemongrass) Extract,  Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, Carbomer, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-26-Buteth-26, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol,Potassium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA  cosDNA.com analysis

Etude House Milk Talk Body Wash I had selected Green Apple/Strawberry pairing, in hopes of getting the Green Apple version, but I received the Steam Milk 😦  Oh, well.  It is just body wash, so it will be used.  Milk body washes are a bit more moisturizing, so I will save this one for the cooler months.  In fact, this is a great size to travel with, as it is small in size, but has a lot of product in it.   I have used the Choco version before and it is pretty good!  Full Size 200 mL Value $12.00

Ingredients: water, ammonium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, ammonium lauryl sulfate, milk protein extract, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, glycerin, butylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, sodium chloride, sorbitol, styrene/acrylates copolymer, cocamide mea, coco-glucoside, trihydroxystearin, PEG-14M, citric acid, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol, red 33 (CI 17200), yellow 5 (CI 19140), fragrance

Beauteque Blending Brush  This is really nice!  I love getting brushes in my beauty bags and this is a nice firm, dense brush that is great to contour and blend.  I used this to swatch the blush and I am impressed by the quality of this brush.  This is Beauteque’s own brand label, but the price does match other blending brush retail prices out there.  Value $15.00

TonyMoly Crystal Blush This time, I DID get my selection and I am happy about it ~ we could choose from Milky Pink #01, Pleasure Pink #02 or Pleasure Peach #03.   I picked  Pleasure Peach #03 and I love this shade  ~ it will be good as a highlighter color on my cheeks or an all over face color.  It does have a tiny bit of micro shimmer to it, but not that much, so it is basically a matte finish but without looking chalky.   This color is not very pigmented but can be built up, but I like it as is, because I can use it all over my face to brighten.   It is finely milled and goes on smoothly, with a silky finish.   The blush itself comes in a cute “diamond” crystal design and this is a very pretty peach-pink shade.  Full Size 6 g Value $8.00

Ingredients: Talc, Mica (CI 77019), titanium dioxide (CI 77891), octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, Phenyl Trimethicone, nylon-12, silica, magnesium myristate, dimethicone,  propanediol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, magnesium stearate,  Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Methicone, Lauroyl Lysine,  tin oxide (CI 77861), Sodium Dehydroacetate, Yellow 5 (CI 19140),  yellow 6 (CI 15985 ), Red 30 (CI 73360), red iron oxide (CI 77491), black iron oxide (CI 77499) cosDNA.com analysis

Secret Key Witch Hazel Pore Clear Toner  I am so glad I got this toner, instead of the Aloe Vera one  ~ this was a randomly selected product.  It isn’t as if I don’t like Aloe Vera products ~ I do!  I just purchased a lot of Aloe Vera products recently and so I didn’t need another toner.  I also have oily skin, so witch hazel is pretty good for me.  This also has alcohol in it, which is not surprising to me at all, as most pore care toners and skincare items have alcohol in them.  I will use this but I will follow up with CosRX AHA/BHA toner, as that balances out the pH level in my face.   This contains NO water (how cool is that?) and the ingredients listing includes not only witch hazel for pore tightening, but aloe vera for soothing, and snail slime for hydrating. There are no triggers in this product!  Yeah 🙂

AND OMG.  Secret Key now has a GLOBAL SHOP!!  www.secretkeyen.com  YES!  With English ingredient listings ~ how cool is that?  I guess Secret Key is just really becoming popular and with good reason ~ I find this to be a really dependable brand that is fairly inexpensive (drug store prices) but with high quality products.   Right now, this product is $9.99 for two of them (1+1)  and you get free shipping when you purchase over $49.00!   I have used the Milk and Tea Tree toners, so these are pretty good ~ check out their site.  Full Size 248 mL Value $19.00 (no, it really isn’t…)

Description: Witch hazel contracts pores, regulates sebum, supplies moisture and moisturize with its excellent soothing and astringent effect. Its tannin substance increases the elasticity in pores so as to be helpful in contracting pores. and it removes harmful oxygen and various dusts and sweat.  It also gently removes excess oil and dirt without over drying

Ingredients: hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) extract, alcohol, 1,2-hexanediol, morus alba bark extract, sciadopitys verticillata root extract, physalis alkekengi fruit extract, portulaca oleracea extract, althaea rosea (hollyhock) rook extract, aloe barbadenis leaf extract, centilla asiatica extract, zanthoxylum piperitum fruit extract, pulsatilla koreana extract, usnea barbata (lichen) extract, nonoxynol-12, tremella fuciformis (mushroom) extract, viola tricolor extract, snail secretion filtrate, disodium EDTA, fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

This month was pretty good!  I thought it would be tough after June’s bag, which was fantastic, but Beauteque did another great job this month curating.  I am a bit disappointed about the body wash as I did want to try the green apple scent, but I did get over that quickly.    My only sadness is that I get my bag so damn late compared to every one else!  That is my biggest complaint right now with Beauteque ~ my bag always goes out late ~ the shipping label was created on the 17th, but the USPS didn’t receive it until the 21st.  Other customers were already getting their bag when my label was created ~ I am a beauty blogger so it is tough to review a bag that everyone else has seen 😦     I paid $24.00 for my bag + $3.95 shipping for a total of $27.95 and received a BeautequeValue** of $70.99.  The bag is an extra and there is no price on it.

** Just as with Memebox, the values of these products are the manufacturer’s retail value, but you can find them much cheaper elsewhere.

Did you subscribe to Beauteque’s Monthly Bag?  If so, what did you think of this month’s bag?  Please comment below 🙂

Here is a preview of the upcoming August Treasure Chest themed bag ~  look at that bag! Isn’t that cute?  The choice items from the Purederm Hair Mask (Jojoba, Chamomile or Honey) and TheSaem Concealer (Clear Beige(1), Natural Beige(1.5) or Rich Beige(2)).  Plus we all receive the Mizon all in one snail repair cream!   I picked the Jojoba hair mask, as it has peppermint in it and TheSaem in 1.5, as I am a light-warm tone (Mac NW20).  What did you pick for August’s bag choices?

  1. Hi!
I feel like Im being a bother leaving all these comment questions >__<

    What do you suggest?

I dunno why my comments end up being like essays.

  2. I got the steam milk one too and asked for Strawberry, so it’s possible they ran out of the fruity scented ones early? Not sure! I did email Beauteque about how late the bags were going out to this side of the country (which is weird considering they’re in New Jersey) and they said there was a delay with a product and some bags were sent out late, however they were going to strive to get them out earlier next month. Crossing my fingers! I agree with you completely that it’s tough when you’re a blogger and suddenly piles of subscriptions come flooding in with just a few days left in the month! Review overload! haha 😉

    1. that is what I thought about the fruit ones – when I looked at etude house website, they didn’t even have the green apple one available! That is good news about the shipping – here’s hoping that they go out a little earlier next month! I wish bags would space out a bit better during the month – last week, I got like 4 of them in ONE day… My poor postman! haha
