Unboxing July 2015 Mishibox!

I was lucky enough to get in on the very first box from Mishibox last month, which is the latest player for K-Beauty subscription boxes.   I was impressed by the packaging, informational card and easy access to ingredient lists, but the box itself was a letdown, as they included same o’ same o’ K-Beauty products, a high pH level cleanser and only one really exciting new product and brand.  I received my 2nd Mishibox, so let’s see if they did a bit better this month.  What is Mishibox?

MJ Care Charcoal Essence Mask   The last item in my Mishibox this month was a facial sheet mask ~ randomly selected from Charcoal, Snail, Seaweed, Royal Jelly, Pearl and Green Caviar.  I received the charcoal version and I am glad, as this is for oily skin and will help control the oil in my face and act as an astringent.  MJ Care is a new brand to me and I am pretty happy to have this version in my box .  The charcoal is made from bamboo, instead of wood charcoal.  Bamboo charcoal has four times more cavities than wood, 3 times the amount of minerals and 4 times better absorption rate.  Bamboo charcoal will absorb the toxins from your skin and remove impurities, dead skin cells, excess oil and also regulate sebum production.   Full Size Value $2.00

How did Mishibox rate this month?  Well, a hella lot better, imho.   It still is a little bit boring, but the majority of the brands are brand new to me and that is fantastic!  Two of the products are K-Beauty favorite brands, It’s Skin and Missha,  so they are stepping up with finding new companies, but.. the products leave much to be desired.   I think instead of the lip balm, a deluxe size of a facial cream or serum would have been nice instead.   Again,  another 7/10 rating, as even though Mishibox featured more unknown brands, the products themselves are not that exciting, with the exception of the Confume hair pack ~ believe it or not, that is my favorite item!    I do know that they are going to feature Skylake again in an upcoming box, so I think that will be an exciting product 🙂

What do I like about Mishibox? I do think that Mishibox has excellent customer service as after last month’s high pH level cleanser, they did send out a survey asking us our preferences in the future about pH levels.  They are listening to feedback, because this month has more unknown company brands than well-known ones.  They also give us a complete ingredient list for all variations on their website, which is AMAZING!!  Thank you!   And they are the only Beauty Box I know of that always tells us to do a patch skin test 🙂  The packaging and presentation is beautiful as well.  I do think they are trying to improve and just like any new subscription box, they need a few months to “find” themselves and I hope that they offer unique brands for their subscribers!

I paid $18.95, including shipping and received a MishiBox Value of $32.50.  Again, just like Beauteque and Memebox, MishiBox value just means that you can find these products cheaper elsewhere.

Did you receive this month’s  Mishibox?  What did you think of it?

  1. I would love to try Mishibox! I just wish there was more “value” compared to the price you pay because, like you said, you could find the products cheaper elsewhere. I also don’t like the idea of paying monthly for something I wouldn’t really want. For example, I’d want the lip macaron, but not in grape! haha Anyways, thanks for continuing to share your experience. I may bite the bullet one day and get my own subscription! 😉

    1. hi Yazzi! I wouldn’t mind the overpriced “value” IF they include rare, new & unknown brands to the USA market. I hope they do listen to the feedback, because beauteque and 3b box have more value for the money, and there really is a need for a k-beauty box that is different from those two sub boxes. I hope that they “find” themselves, it took beauteque a few months before they got on track!

  2. Well since I’m fairly new tot he K beauty market, I really enjoyed this box. I’m familiar with some of these brands, but didn’t own any of these products so I am happy to try them. I got the lib balm in strawberry and love it! I tried the makeup remover last night and really like that too, does a great job and doesn’t irritate my skin, as I also got the green tea formula. Overall I am happy with this box. I can see though if you are not new to K beauty, this may not be a good subscription for you. But for newbies like myself, I’m really enjoying it. I also like they are listening to their customers and hope the products get more exciting for those of you that are well versed in K beauty products. Great review!

  3. I agree with your points here in the sense that Mishibox is doing a lot right, but I do think that this box was a miss for anyone who isn’t new to kbeauty. I just didn’t understand the single nose strip and the super cheap sheet mask…idk something about this box just didn’t sit right with me. I’m fine with low-end brands as long as the items I’m getting feel worthwhile. A single nose strip just wasn’t doing it for me.

Also I think it’s odd that some people got a cute heart-shaped makeup remover bottle that also came in a box, but the regular one is in a plain round tube with no box? Confusing…haha

I’m interested in Mishibox because of how good their customer service has been as well as their packaging, info cards etc. Although this box made me a little bit weary on their curation skills. I’m willing to give them another couple of months though- interested to see where they’ll go!

    1. That is how I feel, Rachel… I will give them until September or October and see if they improve. I am excited that they have new brands, but the curation is not very exciting to me. Beauteque took a few months to hit their stride, so I am hoping Mishbox does the same
