Memebox Intense Hydration Box #thirstyskin Unboxing!

I normally stay away from boxes that claim moisturizing because usually, those boxes are not marketed for oily skin, but normal to dry skin types.  However, I have learned over the years, that hydration doesn’t mean dry skin products, but products that are designed to hydrate ~ put water back into your skin ~ and oily skin can be oily and dehydrated!  How many times has my face been an oil slick but with some dry flaky patches where I over did it with my acne products?  TOO MANY TIMES, my friends!!  Memebox came out with an Intense Hydration box the other week and I ordered it ~ it did take a few extra days to get to me, as it did a detour somewhere in Illinois before making its way to me.    This box is still available for sale at Memebox.

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.

Informational Card

SNP ACSYS Hydra Essence This product was the spoiler for the box and was the reason why I ordered it.  I knew by including this product, this was going to be a box that was going to work with my skin type, as this essence is for normal to oily skin types.   It has some main ingredients that are of importance:

  • Niacinamide which has whitening (brightening) properties as well as anti-aging and anti-acne, while moisturizing.
  • Ceramide 3 which not only traps moisture in your skin, but also prevents it from moisture loss.
  • AC.Net is a combination of the following ingredients to work as an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, as well as oil control:  Water, Butylene Glycol, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides,  Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid, Oleanolic Acid
  • BSASM ~ this is actually a multi-herbal complex that is made up of the following plants: anthemis nobilis (chamomile) , centella asiatica (gotu kola),  glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice), camellia sinensis (green tea), polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed),  rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary), and scutellaria baicalensis (skullcap).  This  complex has  anti-inflammatory and anti-itch properties as well as soothing your skin

This product doesn’t have citrus in it, but it has a light citrus-lemon scent to it which is very pleasing.  It is a light weight watery-cream essence and it absorbs quickly into my skin, without a tacky feeling.   My skin does feel very hydrated when I used it.  This has only a couple of very low scoring acne triggers at cosDNA, so this is perfect for my skin!  I am really liking this product and will be using it for the duration of the summer time.   I hope Memebox starts carrying it their store, as they do have a SNP brand shop.  Full Size 60 mL Value $20.00

Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, glycerin, glycereth-26, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract, camella sinensis leaf extract, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, centella asiatica extract, anthemis nobilis flower extract, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, polygonum cuspidatum root extract, alcohol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sodium acrylates copolymer, hydrogenated pilyisobutene, phospholipids, polyglyceryl-10 stearate, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil,  sorbitan sesquioleate, nicainamide, PEG-60 almond glycerides, caprylyl glycol, carbomer,  nordihydroguaiaretic acid, olenolic acid, ceramide 3, hydrogenated lecithin, cetearyl alcohol, cetearyl glucoside, triclosan, sodium hyaluronate, methylparaben, propylparaben, tocopheryl acetate, fragrance, disodium EDTA, salicylic acid, arginine analysis

Holika Holika Aqua Max Ultra Moisture Cream I’ve been seeing these lovely little pastel colored jars around the K-Beauty sphere for a while.   Holika Holika makes three different versions of this, one for dry skin, one for oily skin and this one, which is for all skin types.   This product states it is a water drop cream, but it does not bead up on my skin as other water drop products that I have used in the past.  It is a pale blue shade, but it doesn’t turn your skin blue :)  The cream is light weight and it does have a cooling effect that is even more apparent when I leave this in this in my frig.   It does have a slight herbal-floral scent to it but it isn’t that unpleasant.  Aqua Max contains herbal (rosemary, thyme, lavender) and flower  (blue lotus, violet, winter begonia, touch-me-not, summer lilac) extracts, which help with anti-inflammatory issues and soothes your skin.   Full Size 120 mL Value $28.00

Skinfood Rose Essence #01 Lip Care Balm   So bummed.  The lip balm was randomly selected between the Rose Essence and Avocado lip balms by Skinfood, and as luck would have it, I received the Rose Essence version :(   I am not opening this up, because I won’t use it, but according to product descriptions and images of the opened product, this is a thick milky-pink colored balm that melts into your lips, leaving a very glossy finish.  It also smells like rose.  This is in a very cute pink tin with a lovely stylized rose on the lid.  Full Size 8 g Value $9.50

Secret Key Starting Treatment Aura Mist Ha!  For those who remember the infamous Office Essentials box last year, this product was supposed to be in it and it wasn’t!   I did purchase it later and this is a great facial mist.  I now have the full ingredient list and I am a bit shocked to see alcohol as the 3rd ingredient!  That said, I use this in the summer time and leave it in my frig, so it is nice and cool.   Based on some of the other ingredients in this product, this is really an AC treatment mist ~ it has witch hazel and green tea, plus the alcohol.    Maybe that is why it isn’t as bothersome to my skin, I do not know.  But this also has my best friend in the world, my fermented galactomyces, which has Vitamins B1, B2, Niacin and Folic acid.  Fermented products are like the thing I love the best about K-Beauty.  Give ME ALL of your yeasty ferments!   Secret Key’s Aura Mist doesn’t have a scent that I can detect.   Alas, my Aura Mist is leaking somewhere ~ look at the box ~ it was totally damp and you can see that my bottle is missing liquid and has condensation around the cap.  I will have to write to Memebox and let them know about this, as the bottle is still doing a slow leak.    Full Size 100 mL Value $13.50

Ingredients: water, butylene glycol, glycerin, alcohol denat., galactomyces ferment filtrate, ceramide 3, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, anthemis nobilis flower extract, centella asiatica extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) leaf extract, oryza saltiva (rice) bran extract, portulaca oleracea extract, panax ginseng root extract, acanthopanx senticosus (eleuthero) root extract, rh-oligopeptide-1, sodium hyaluronate, octyldodecanol, hydrogenated lecithin, boswellia serrata resin extract, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, caprylhydroxamic acid, caprylyl glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, disodium EDTA, fragrance analysis

I am pretty happy with this box and hopefully, Memebox will replace my leaking Secret Key item.  The only item I won’t use is the rose essence balm ~ so sad I didn’t get the avocado one :(   The cleansing foam, if the pH level is not high, I will use on my face, but if it is high, I can use as a body wash.    The products that I am most excited about are the SNP ACSYS essence and the Secret Key Aura Mist.    I paid $45.00 for this box (yep, it was a higher priced box), but I also purchased the Ariul Masks Box as well, because Memebox had a special coupon, good for a couple of hours, so I received 20% off this box, so this box was $36.00.   I received a MemeValue of $96.30 and it is a pretty good box, in my opinion.  It is also still available for purchase.

Did you purchase the Intense Hydration Box?  What did you think about it?

  1. The Holika Holika Aqua Max looks interesting. I have an oily T-zone, but dry cheeks so I bet the blue one would be great for me! Also, forgive me because I’m new to your blog, but what is wrong with the Skinfood Rose Lip Balm? I’d be interested to try it, but thought maybe you had a bad experience with it?
