Unboxing April 2015 Beauteque Bag!

Beauteque is an online Asian beauty store, located in the USA, that specializes in K-beauty.  They offered a monthly bag, where you will get not only K-Beauty items, but Asian skincare, cosmetics and even Western items, but it primarily focuses on K-Beauty. For full disclosure, unless I state otherwise, all items that I review on my blog are paid for by me and this review is no exception ~ I am paying for the monthly subscription service and am not being compensated for this review.

This review is a bit late, as Beauteque sent me the wrong selections originally and I had to wait to get the new ones ~ but I am glad that they honored my original selections   I will be hosting giveaways with the “wrong items” in the future, so be on the look out for those!

Hanaka Botanic Magic Garden Series Treatment Reviving Masks  I received this brand in my April Mask Maven, so this must be a new brand that Beauteque has discovered.  I received the Marigold Vitamin A, which is an oil control mask, that will “neutralize shine and purify sebum brings refreshed skintone”.  I also received the Rose Tranexamic Acid Whiteness Mask, which “locks in moisture to help transform the complexion.”  I will try out the Marigold, but the Rose is going to my mom. I am not sure why the Marigold is called Marigold, as there is not a shred of evidence that there is marigold extracts in it ~ it has Saw palmetto, witch hazel and peanut oil, but no marigold.   The rose has rose water in it (lol) and tranexamic acid, which is a whitening ingredient and is derived from amino acid lysine.   Retail Value $2.00 x 2 = $4.00

Holika Holika S Body Maker Jiggling Patch   Weellll, I need a MUCH bigger patch than this to stop my jiggles!!   This is an “firming patch” ~ that supposed to revitalize and firm up the body part where you apply this patch.   It is supposed to be a bubbling patch.   You open up the patch and then apply the gel mixture to the patch.  Remove the film around the edge and then attach it to your “jiggly” body part that needs firming ~ see my dilemma here?  Too many body parts 😉   You leave this on for 30-40 minutes and then remove, blotting off any residue.   Apparently, the bubbles provide tired skin a firm vitality and it massages your skin.  The “S” part of this patch is that you would apply it to your curves.  It does sound like a lot of fun, but unless I have a lifetime supply of these things, I doubt it will do much except really make that area very moisturized and hydrated as it has a lot of nice ingredients, including aloe, peptides, pumpkin, lime, allanotin, sugar maple extract, allantoin, orange and lemon extracts as well as onsen-sui (hot springs water).    Retail Value $7.00

Mizon Water Volume Aqua Gel Cream  I received this cream in the past with the Volume Up! Memebox and it is a very nice lightweight gel ~ it works great as a sleeping pack for me in the summer.  This is a lightweight cream that has Alaska glacier water, deep ocean water, coral water, witch hazel left, watermelon, basil leaf, lotus, niacinamide and birch tree sap.  It is also free of paraben.  This gel-cream sounds perfect for me as it seems to be designed for oily and sensitive skin types.  The Mizon Water Volume Aqua Gel Cream smells refreshing to me and is very cooling to the skin.

Once again, Mizon has not corrected the ingredient list on their 50mL boxes.  The 125 mL items have the correct listing, but their 50mL boxes have a printing issue, as that includes ingredients like shea butter, mango seed butter, rose hybrid and excludes the watermelon, basil leaf and the other key ingredients in the description.  I am using the 125 mL ingredient list as that is the correct version in my opinion.  It seems that this product has two different names but it is the same item?  I am not sure!   Also, the informational card from Beauteque has the wrong “How To Use” instructions.  This isn’t the razor!  haha Full Size 50mL Value $12.00

Note that they have honey extract (꿀추출물) in this ingredient list (3rd line, 2nd word from the right), which matches what I have above, but not what is on the box.   That was one word I recognized immediately in Korean, so I am going with my translation.

Razor  Did Shara Shara have the same model as this razor company?   You know, the nightmare bumpits sunscreen dolly from Memebox My Cute Wishlist 3 

See, I told you!!  Same model!!  haha.  I am a bit sad that the handle isn’t in that shape 😉   At any rate, I don’t mind having a razor in my bag.  I hate those razors with “moisturizing strips” because I do feel they get in the way of good clean shave of my pits and I do use shaving foam, so this is okay that it has none of those strips.   But the value of this razor is laughable!!!  Retail EIGHT BUCKS???  Come on, this is a no-name brand ~ even Beauteque couldn’t be bothered to put the name of company ~ they just called it “Razor”.   Whatever. Holika Holika Honey Sleeping Pack Acerola   This was one of our “choices”  in our bag ~ we could choose from Canola, Blueberry or Acerola.   I chose Acerola and Beauteque had sent me Canola, which I already own.  They sent me out my Acerola replacement, so I am pretty pleased now.  A sleeping pack is a intense moisturizing cream/gel that is applied to your face as the last step in your skincare routine before going to bed.  It locks in all of the nutrients and creates a moisture barrier, so that your skin will be working on healing and rejuvenating while you sleep!  You do not wash it off until the morning, when you wake up.  This is another product I have used ~  the Holika Holika Honey Sleeping Pack ~ but in the Blueberry version  ~ in fact, I am on my second jar of the blueberry since I purchased my first one last summer.   This is one of my top choices for a honey sleeping pack.  It is not sticky, absorbs quickly ~ in fact, I usually let it dry and then apply again before I go to bed.  The jar is adorable, in the shape of a little honey pot 🙂

I have included photos of the Blueberry here, so you can see that the color is much lighter than the Acerola ~ Acerola is made from tropical cherries, so it is a reddish cream..  This is a gel sleeping pack and as I mentioned, it is not heavy or sticky.   This is perfect for ladies who have oily skin ~ I have never broken out in acne using this product.  The 3 versions are:

• Canola:  Brighening, prevents premature aging of the skin, smooths wrinkles, moisturizes.  20% rapeseed flower extracts, 20% honey extracts
• Blueberry:  Superfood, tightens enlarged pores and moisturizes intensively.  20% blueberry extracts, 20% honey extracts
• Acerola: Rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, moisturizes and softens the skin.  20% acerola extracts, 20% honey extracts

It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm in Strawberry  This was our other choice product ~ I chose Strawberry, as I already own grape and green apple.  Of course, I got grape and once again, Beauteque sent me my choice of Strawberry, of which I am very grateful for.  Strawberry smells like strawberry candy, goes on a glossy clear and it is a standard type lip balm ~ made with shea and cocoa butter, and contains Vitamins A, C and E.  Even if this was a horrible lip balm, which it isn’t, look HOW CUTE that macaron is!! Hanaka Camellia Powder Wash    Annnddd, the circle is now complete…we’ve come full circle…back to the beginning….In other words, this bag started off with a Hanaka product and it  ends with a Hanaka product.   This is a powder wash where you add water to activate it and lather it onto your face.  This has 25% Amino Acids with Camellia extract and hyaluronic acid, which will leave your skin soft and bright.  Aloe vera will help moisturize and hydrate your skin. These ingredients help with skin cell renewal and cleaning out pores, removing impurities and dirt. This is alcohol free, fragrance free and pigment free and is a deep cleanse for your face.  I find these little powder washes are great for when I travel ~ they don’t leak and are small enough to tuck in your purse or carry-on luggage.   Size .8grams x 7 packets  Value $14.00

Description: Use one of these cleanser packs per day for a week of flawless skin!  Camellia moisturizes, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and fights aging effects. One pack can be used for day and night.

Directions: Mix the powder with a small amount of water to start and work into a lather in you hands, add more as needed, rub in circular motions on face to cleanse and then rinse.

How did I like April’s Mad for Plaid bag?  It is a good bag, it is just unfortunate that I have tried 3 out of the 7 items in this bag previously.   The razor and Holika Holika S-jiggling patch are questionable for me, but it is all about the fun of trying new things (the patch, not the razor).    I think my favorite item is the Holika Holika Honey Sleeping Pack, only because I find that this is a really good product for my skin type ~ and I am really excited to try the Acerola.   The lip balm is adorable too.   I paid $24.00 for my bag + $3.95 shipping for a total of $27.95 and received a BeautequeValue** of $70.00.  The bag is an extra and there is no price on it.

** Just as with Memebox, the values of these products are the manufacturer’s retail value, but you can find them much cheaper elsewhere.
