Unboxing Memebox Show Some Skin Mystery Box #nakedface

I have a massive skincare addiction and it shows!   I normally shy away from makeup boxes from Memebox and was totally excited when they announced a skincare-only mystery box the other week!  They had just released a flawless skin mystery box, but that included makeup, so I wasn’t interested in that one ~ but this one called my name ~ I love skincare!  Plus it was $25.00 and I wanted to see what they would put in a $25.00 mystery box ~ as it has been a while since they offered a $25.00 box.

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.

Secret Key Milk Brightening Toner  I own this toner already, as I received it in my Beauteque Head to Toe Milk bag but  I love Secret Key products.   I love this toner ~ it is very hydrating and mild, and I use it at night time.  However, with the warmer weather coming up, it will be rotated to my back shelf, as it is a bit too hydrating for my oily skin.   This is a lovely milky watery toner that is so gentle and moisturizing.  This is the perfect toner to use during these cold winter months when the winds and extreme temperatures cause skin damage.  This not only has milk protein extracts as the FIRST ingredient (hydrating), but has galactomyces filtrates (my good ol’ yeasty friend) and extracts of pomegranate (high in antioxidants), ground cherry, raspberry, pasqueflower, potato (anti-aging), carrots, pumpkin (promotes cell turnover), rice, usnea/lichen (anti-inflammatory) and broccoli.   This is chock full of good moisturizing, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and exfoliating ingredients.   This toner has no alcohol in it and is free of parabens, mineral oil, phenoxyethanol, penzophenon and animal oil.   This is the winner in this box and that is why she gets to wear the tiara!    And yes, I painstakingly translated all of the ingredients from the official website by hand ~ in fact, all of the products in this box, I had to translate by hand, as I couldn’t find an English version.  Full Size 248 mL Value $12.00

Product Description:  Colostrum contains skin growth factor natural protein and natural AHA, so it is effective for skin brightening and its abundance of vitamins, minerals and ions are helpful for enhancing the skins immunity.   The vitamins and minerals of the milk will supply your skin with nutrients and moisture making bright and elastic skin.  And the protein discomposing enzyme in the milk removes keratin and waste materials for bright skin tone as well as balancing skin oil and moisture balance for healthy skin. This gentle, alcohol-free toner is specifically formulated for people who are suffering from sensitive skin. It softens dead skin cells for them to be easily wiped off while also supplying proper moisture to keep the skin firm, smooth and bright

Ingredients: Milk Protein Extract, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Camellia Sinensis (green tea) Leaf Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/leaf/stem Extract, Solanum Tuberosum (Potato) Pulp Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum (sichuan pepper) Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana (pasqueflower) Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Nonoxynol-12, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Physalis Alkekengi (ground cherry) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

Banila Co The Blacks Lip Essence ~  Welll, I guess a lip balm is “skincare”, but I wasn’t expecting it in here, as I can think of other skin care products that would be better suited.   That said, when I saw this at Memebox a few weeks ago, I was very interested in this product, but I really need to stop purchasing LIP BALMS.  I have so many and I get them all the time in my subscription boxes.   So, I am glad that I received this in this box, even though lip balms are not what I first think of for a skincare box.  This is made with aronia (chokeberry) berries, full of antioxidants, and lots of fruit and vegetable  extracts ~ acai, black currant, grape, black elderberry, mulberry, cocoa, soybean, cinnamon,  garlic, eggplant, pepper, mushrooms and rice.    It comes out of the tube in a paste texture ~ a brownish color, as I think that is the sugar, but it does smooth out to be a very glossy, clear lip treatment.  I would not consider this a lip balm or to use it under or over lipsticks ~ but a night time treatment as it is so slippery.  This is supposed to hold in moisture and deeply hydrate your lips.   Full Size 14 g Retail Value $11.00

Ingredients: Petrolatum, Polybutene, Diisostearyl Malate, Microcrystalline Wax,  Triethylhexanoin, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Allium Sativum (Garlic) Bulb Extract, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Fruit Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Inonotus Obliquus (Mushroom) Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Seed Extract, Black Strap (sugar cane molasses) Powder,Sambucus Nigra (black elderberry) Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract, Rubus Coreanus Fruit Extract, Morus Alba (mulberry) Fruit Extract, Aronia Melanocarpa (chokeberry) Fruit Extract, Hydroxystearic Acid, Polyethylene, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E), Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, water, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin,Phenoxyethanol, fragrance, black iron oxide (CI 77499), Yellow No 5 (CI 19140), red iron oxide (CI 77491) cosDNA.com analysis

Banila Co. The Kissest Water Beam Tint in Seoul Sunset  First off, let’s see what Memebox had to say on the card about this product

Okay so we cheated a little (I call that a lie) there’s a little makeup involved with your #nakedface.  But lip tints are so subtle and highlight your already natural (my lips are naturally orange??) color.  This Banila Co lip tint envelops your lips in a moisturizing coat, while adding a hint (no, more like a full on assault) of color to your lips

So, this product made me more than just upset.  This is a total misrepresentation of a box that states “No makeup, just skin“.  Also, this is neither a natural color nor is it subtle or hinting of a color. You can see below that it is a bright vivid orange color and it is sparkly too.  When I removed it with a tissue, you can see that my hand is stained orange.   To me, this is just insulting to the customer, who a) purchased a skincare box that stated no makeup and b) to try and state that this is a natural, subtle tint?  I did email Memebox about this and they did state that they will send me a replacement skincare item.   Full Size 4.3 g Value $12.00

Ingredients: water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Tromethamine, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Carbomer, Tin Oxide (CI 77861), Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Red No 33 (CI 17200), Acid Red No 18 (CI 16255)  cosDNA.com analysis

I was upset that Memebox lied and put in a makeup product in this skincare ONLY box.    That isn’t a “cheat”, that is a misrepresentation of a product that they are selling.  I understand it is a mystery box, but the description stated skincare, no makeup.  I did email Memebox, and they said they would send me out a skincare product ~ I haven’t received it yet, but when I do, I will add it to this post.   I do hope it will be of similar value ($12.00) and not a Mememask.    Ignoring the bright orange lip tip, I was a bit disappointed in this box.   I had thought of maybe an anti-aging product and even the dreaded sunscreen would be included.   I would have preferred the series of the Golden Aloe Vera sheet mask line from Banila Co instead ~ they also have a brightening and firming ones.   I certainly didn’t expect two lip products and I am sure other customers didn’t either.   The toner is very nice and I will save it for next winter, as it is a bit rich for me in the warmer months and even though I am grumping about the lip products, The Blacks Essence is also very nice.   I paid $25.00 for this value set and received a *MemeValue of $42.00    ** MemeValue ~ you can certainly find these products cheaper elsewhere.

Did you get the Memebox Show Some Skin Mystery Box?  What was your favorite item in the box?

I received my replacement item and I am pretty happy with it!

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula WH Effector with Arbutin Ampoule  This ampoule is designed for whitening and brightening the skin tone, and I am so happy to get this.  It has both arbutin and Chinese mulberry extracts to really help with brightening the skin tone.   The ingredients on the body label, the English version on the official website and the Korean version all differed ~ lol.  I went with the Korean version for the ingredients list.   This product should have been in everyone’s boxes ~ a nice ampoule was missing!  Full Size 30 mL Value $13.00

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Polyglutamic Acid, Arbutin, Cudrania Tricuspidata (Chinese Mulberry) Bark Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Methylparaben,Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, fragrance  cosDNA.com analysis

  1. Oh wow I can’t believe they put in a makeup product in a box that they clearly said there was going to be only skincare! I personally think Memebox has taken a dive with there mystery boxes! I miss the old Global 23.00 boxes! I’m so glad you contacted them and called them out on there lie- I hope they send you something good!

    1. I miss the Global boxes too! And I do hope that I get something nice as well. I also hope that those that are unhappy with the lip gloss to email them and ask for a replacement product, as there are laws in this country to protect the consumer.

  2. wow memebox seems to have really gone downhill! ill be so pissed like you if i got that box as a “skincare” mystery box. now im so glad that they discontinued international boxes!

    1. It was bad enough they put in a lip gloss in a skincare-only box, but then to insult my intelligence by stating it was natural and subtle. I am not sure in what universe that shade is natural & subtle…

  3. The toner is definitely my favorite item! I’m also excited to try the snail eye gels (my first snail product!). I actually kinda like the lip tint for summertime, but I completely understand why you’re upset about receiving it. It was a bit of a low blow on Memebox’s part. I hope they send you something nice to make up for it! I feel like this box needed something else to push up it’s value, although I’m a little more accepting of it than the Fine and Flawless box, which I was a little disappointed in.
