Unboxing April 2015 The 3B Box!

What is 3B (Beauty Beyond Borders)?  It is an Asian sample monthly subscription box and is very affordable at $12.00/monthly.  It is similar to ipsy and Birchbox, where you get 4 to 5 deluxe samples (and sometimes a full sized item!)

If you are interested in 3B, you can sign up for their waitlist ~ it took me almost 2 months to get off their waitlist, which is fine, because they are being very careful not to have their service suffer by over subscribing customers.  More about 3B’s monthly service:

Each box contains a collection of deluxe samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. The products will change each month, and you’ll get to try new skincare, haircare, nailcare, and cosmetic products. Sample products range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. Don’t worry about not being able to read Japanese or Korean – we’ve got you covered with English translations of descriptions in each box. (https://the3bbox.com/the-box/)

The items do not come in a box, but a chiffon pouch.

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner ~ I am a HUGE fan of the Benton Snail-Bee line ~ I’ve written about it enough times!!  The Snail Bee Essence is a HG-never-can-live-without product for me, so I am interested in trying other Benton product lines.  One of the issues I had with the Aloe line is that there was a really bad batch that affected some customers and Benton didn’t make good on the Aloe line issues.  I have been hesitant in purchasing anything from the Aloe line because of that.  However, now that I have some samples, I will try them out and see how this works with my skin type.   This toner has a lot of great ingredients in it, aloe vera (of course), which is very soothing and moisturizing, sodium hyaluronate which attracts and keeps moisture locked into your skin, which results in the appearance of reducing fine lines and wrinkles;  snail slime ~ the miracle worker, full of antioxidants and helps speed up healing in your skin and salicylic acid (BHA) ~ helps clear up acne and unclog pores, as it is an exfoliant.  This is a very watery toner and you would just apply it as the first step after cleansing your face.    This has no scent to it, contains no water or alcohol.   Sample Size (unknown)

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (58%), Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Salicylic Acid (0.5%), Beta-Glucan, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Polyglutamic Acid, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Cross Polymer  cosDNA.com analysis

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel ~ next up, another Benton product, which is the sister to the toner ~ this is the Aloe Vera Propolis Soothing Gel, which is used after cleansing–> toner –> essence.   This is a gel moisturizer that would be considered the emulsion step as it is before the actual moisturizing cream.  This doesn’t contain any water or alcohol and has soothing aloe vera, propolis ~ made from the resinous substance that comes from honeybees and is an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, helps speed up wound healing;  arginine and allantoin ~ both are antioxidants which helps with stimulating collagen production.  Lots of good ingredients in here and there are no irritants or triggers for acne.   This product is supposed to help with reducing the inflammation and redness caused by acne and sensitive skin issues.  This is a nice medium weight gel that absorbs quickly into my skin and has no scent to it.  If you have redness on your skin, either from acne or other issues, it is recommended that you apply some of the gel on a cotton pad and then adhere it to that area on your skin for 15-20 minutes, to help reduce redness and swelling.  Sample Size 5 mL

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (80%), Propolis Extract (10%), Glycerin, Arginine, Allantoin, Betaine, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Cross Polymer, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract  cosDNA.com analysis

Tonymoly Intense Care Snail Foam Cleanser ~ I already have a snail cleanser open from Tonymoly, so I will save this one for traveling.  This is a nice deluxe size cleanser ~ for me, this would be one week’s worth, as I really like using my cleansers!  This contains 5% snail slime filtrate extracts, aloe vera, rosehip oil, sodium hyaluronate, and the fermented extracts of rice, green tea and edelweiss.  Deluxe Size 50 mL

Skinfood Silicon Cleansing Pad ~ I love this!  This is a nice flexible cleansing pad, made from silicon and it has tiny little gentle bristles that will stimulate the skin and clean out pores.  You just add a cleanser, such as the Tonymoly Snail Foam we got in this bag (I think it was great that they included a cleanser to go with this pad!) and massage the skin with your pad, concentrating on areas that need the extra deep cleansing treatment.   This is a full sized item!

Innisfree Bija Sheet Mask ~ MY ABSOLUTE favorite Innisfree sheet mask “flavor”!  Bija is perfect for oily skin and I purchase these all the time.  In fact, I think this needs to go in April’s favorite products blog post 🙂   Just as it is confusing in the description ~ Bija = Torreya nucifera = Japanese nutmeg-yew.  I love the silk-like material they use for the sheet mask.  Full Size 1 sheet mask

I liked March’s bag, but April’s bag is FANTASTIC!  Why?  Because this month’s bag is tailored made for those with oily/normal-oily skin, from the Benton products, the foaming cleanser and cleansing pad, and the Bija mask.   This might be a miss for those with dry skin, but for me, this is a fabulous bag!  Totally love it and  I received two full sized items  as well!  I do like this concept of an affordable, deluxe sizes ~ with occasional full sized items ~ that allows me to try something out without feeling obligated to use the whole thing up or feel guilty if I throw it out ~ but I think this month, all of the products will be used.  I think this is well worth the $12.00 I spent on it.

Did you receive The 3B box this month?  What did you think of it?  Do you like getting smaller sizes, ala Birchbox/ipsy?  Let me know in the comments below!
