I finally got off 3B’s waitlist!! 3B (Beauty Beyond Borders) is an Asian sample monthly subscription box and is very affordable at $12.00/monthly. It is similar to ipsy and Birchbox, where you get 4 to 5 deluxe samples (and sometimes a full sized item!)
If you are interested in 3B, you can sign up for their waitlist ~ it took me almost 2 months to get off their waitlist, which is fine, because they are being very careful not to have their service suffer by over subscribing customers. More about 3B’s monthly service:
Each box contains a collection of deluxe samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. The products will change each month, and you’ll get to try new skincare, haircare, nailcare, and cosmetic products. Sample products range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. Don’t worry about not being able to read Japanese or Korean – we’ve got you covered with English translations of descriptions in each box. (https://the3bbox.com/the-box/)
The items do not come in a box, but a chiffon pouch.
The first two products are tiny, but they are from Sulwhasoo, which is made by parent company Amore Pacific, and they are expensive.
Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing Water ~ 3B messed up and sent me two emulsions, instead of one balancing water and one emulsion. So, I have no opinion on the water but I did email them and hopefully, they will send me one, as out of the two Sulwhasoo items, it is the water that I am most interested in. This is more of a gel, than a water, from what I read. It contains Matrimony Vine, which soothes and calms, promoting skin health and delivers deep hydration and restores your skin’s pH balance. A 4.2 oz bottle of this retails for $58.00

This also has honey, licorice, unshiu, beta-glucan, and mango seed butter, just to name a few of the ingredients. Sulwhasoo is a very expensive skin care line from Pacific Amore, which I adore. Too Cool for School Pumpkin Sleeping Pack ~ This is a sleeping pack that I have been wanting to try for a long time now. I did use it and it is a gel-cream, but very moisturizing and thick. It has Vitamin A and beta-carotene, which helps nourish your skin overnight. However, the scent of this cream is a bit off putting ~ it reminds me of a man’s aftershave. It does not smell like pumpkins, to my great disappointment.
I did grin when I saw that one of the ingredients is Love Lies Bleeding, which is a bleeding heart flower. One of my favorite Elton John songs is Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. For a trip down that classic yellow brick road and for your listening pleasure

Holika Holika Daily Garden Lip & Eye Remover in Olive ~ There are two types of Daily Garden varierties and Olive is the more heavy duty makeup remover than the Acerola one. It also moisturizes the skin as well. This is a full size item!

Holika Holika Juicy Shine Lip Balm in #02 ~ I actually like this! This is in color 02 raspberry and it looks like a vivid pink when swatched, but once applied to my lips, it is a sheer pink finish, very glossy, goes on creamy and moisturizing. It does not make my lips a hot pink, thank gawd. This is a nice lip balm that I can apply without needing a mirror. This is not flavored.

What do I think about March’s The 3B bag? I actually am fine with it, even though I received two emulsions and am missing one of the products. I dislike those little hard containers that Korean beauty companies put deluxe samples in ~ I can never get all of the product out and I am forced to use a Q-Tip to swipe it clean. I would (gasp) prefer foils. Or how Innisfree does it samples, which are re-closable. I have always wanted to try the Pumpkin Sleeping pack and am glad I didn’t have to purchase a full sized item to find out that I disliked it. I also received two full sized items ~ a makeup remover and a lip balm. I do like this concept of an affordable, deluxe sizes ~ with occasional full sized items ~ that allows me to try something out without feeling obligated to use the whole damn thing up if it doesn’t work for me. I think this is well worth the $12.00 I spent on it.
Did you receive The 3B box this month? What did you think of it? Do you like getting smaller sizes, ala Birchbox/ipsy? Let me know in the comments below!
