Unboxing March 2015 Love with Food!

I wrote earlier about subscribing with Love with Food  after seeing the wonderful Mardi Gras themed February box, and was excited to sign up using a Groupon deal for 3 months of the deluxe box, plus I also got an additional 3 months from Rue La La for their standard box for another 3 months ~ so I will be reviewing Love with Food for at least 6 months! What is Love with Food?

Love With Food - Snack Smart. Do Good.
They have 3 different plans ~ standard box, deluxe box and a gluten free box, so check out their offerings!  I just received my March box, so let’s see what I received (and tasted!)

This month’s theme is Healthy Grocery Finds by Healthy Grocery Girl

Well, I suppose after a Mardi Gras theme last month, we have to get back on track with über-healthy snacks😉

Lots of good stuff in here!  Let’s dive in and see what I got, shall we?

Bare Snacks @BareSnacks  One ingredient.  Apples, baked dry and to a crisp.  At first, I didn’t taste the apple in this snack, but it hit my taste buds within 30 seconds or so and then the smooth sweetness of an apple was apparent.   There are 3 apples in each 1.69 oz bag, which contains 2 servings at 90 calories each.  Fat free, vegan, no preservatives, gluten free, no added sugars, non GMO, no cholesterol and has 4 grams of fiber per serving!    These are naturally sweet and crunchy ~ very tasty indeed!  Value $2.39

479° Sea Salt Popcorn  @479degrees This is a gluten free, vegan, non GMO popcorn, sprinkled with sea salt.  I am suffering from brochitisu right now, and salty foods are something I need to avoid at this moment ~ but I will get back to these and try them out!   I really like the other flavors better, such as sea salt caramel, but I guess that was a featured product in Love with Food in the past.   This popcorn is kosher, whole grain, air popped, no trans fat, no artificial anything, all natural at 70 calories per bag (.5 oz)  Value $1.58

Good Boy Organics Sea Salt Bops @goodboyorganics   Okay, these are oven baked potato snacks.  And they are probably the worst chip I have ever eaten.  Not crispy, seems stale, the taste is ….tasteless….no salty goodness anywhere, which with my sore throat, would have been noticed!  I don’t know if I received a bad bag or what, but these are not good to me at all.    These are not potato chips, but processed with potato starch, etc and that is why I probably do not like them.  I am sure they are quite healthy, but nope, not for me.  100 calories per .8 oz bag  Value $1.04

Ingredients: Potato starch*, potato flakes*, corn flour*, sunflower oil* and/or canola oil*, palm oil*, sea salt, Seasoning* (potato starch*, sea salt, sugar*, yeast extract). *Organic.

Fruigees Nothing Beets Cherry Fruit Snack @Fruigees  This sounds interesting!  This is a fruit/veggie drink, packed with antioxidants ~ something that a very sick person like myself can use to as a pick me up!   “The sweet flavor of cherry combined with one of the superest super foods around – Beets!”  One full serving (3.5 oz) contains 1/2 cup of fruits and veggies and 100% of our daily recommended allowance of Vitamin C.   I have my chilling in the frig now and will drink later on.   Vegan, Gluten Free, Kosher, Non GMO and Organic  Value $1.99

Ingredients: Organic White Grape Juice (Water, Organic White Grape Juice Concentrate), Organic Beet Juice (Water, Organic Beet Juice Concentrate), Organic Apple Juice (Water, Organic Apple Juice Concentrate),  Organic Dark Sweet Cherry Juice (Water, Organic Dark Sweet Cherry Juice Concentrate), Organic Tapioca Starch, Carob Bean Gum, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid

Beanfields Bean & Rice Chips Ranch  These were not listed in my info card, so I am not sure if they were left off by mistake?  Anyway, I am a big fan of bean chips now, thanks to Beanitos, and am interested in trying out this mix of beans and rice chips in the Ranch flavoring.  These are vegan, corn free, 4 grams of fiber and protein, gluten free and all natural flavors.  140 calories per 1 oz serving  Value $1.25

180 Snacks Cranberry Pomegranate Dry Roasted Clusters @180snacks  These sound yummy!  Again, due to my sore throat, these will have to wait, but I love nut clusters.   These are made with roasted nuts, puffed rice and dried cranberry and pomegranates, full of antioxidants and good for your body!  I love a sweet/salty mix ~ gluten free, made in the USA,  Kosher, 100% vegan and dairy free ~ 140 calories per 1 oz serving.   Value 90 cents

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts @ManitobaHarvest I received 2 of these as I have the deluxe box.  These are all natural raw shelled hemp seeds, which I can sprinkle on my salads, cereal and yogurt, blend into smoothies and shakes, and also eat on their own.  I think these are similar to uses like sunflower seeds, but hemp is a remarkable plant and has many uses, from skincare, oils, food, fiber, and so on.  I am a big supporter of hemp production in this country and no, it isn’t pot ;)   Three tablespoons of these hemp hears provide 10 grams of plant based protein.   You can also add to your sandwiches as well.   These have a nutty flavor and is high in omega fats (10 grams), digestible proteins, vitamins, minerals and 3 grams of fiber, how can you go wrong with this product?   They have more omegas and protein per serving than flax or chia seeds.   Try them out as a snack by themselves!   Check out their website (linked in the product name) and you can get a free 7-day smoothie recipe e-book from them   .5 oz x 2 Value $1.50

Now we come to my favorites so far in this box ~ cause they are chocolate flavored, don’t ya know?

Two Moms in the Raw Almond Butter Cacao Truffle @TMITR OMG the name of this company makes me laugh!!  But these truffles are SO good!  They are dense, chewy, soft chocolate flavored moist morsels and my only disappointment is how quickly I ate them!  These are 100% organic, Kosher, gluten free, free of wheat, dairy, soy and refined sugars,  raw and sprouted ~ I had no idea raw foods could taste so good.  “Our raw processing helps preserve all of the antioxidants, vitamin C, Omega 6 fatty acids and serotonin that is depleted in heated chocolate, maximizing the benefits of your dessert.” These come in at 140 calories per truffle (1 oz) 2x Value $2.67

Ingredients: Organic Almonds, Organic Agave, Organic Cacao and Sea Salt

TruJoy Sweets Choco Chews @surfsweets  These remind me of Tootsie Rolls only they are better!  Softer and more healthy, easy to chew ~ very creamy candy that is vegan, Kosher, gluten free, organic, no artificial colors or flavors.   This has a great chocolately taste and I will have to pick up a bag of these to treat myself.  22 calories per choco chew!  1% of their sales is donated to environmental causes :)  5 pieces Value $1.10

IngredientsOrganic Evaporated Dried Cane Syrup, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Organic Palm Oil* , Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Vanilla Flavor, Organic Rice Extract, Organic Chocolate Liquor. *Sustainably Sourced

I also received some coupons and discounts for products not in my box.  To my disappointment, the Nona Lim noodles were not part of my box, as I LOVE me some noodles!  But I will have to check out Whole Foods and try them out.  I also received a discount with Urban Remedy ~ a $10.00 off a $50.00 purchase.

This box was filled with healthy snacks!  I like the variety but I do have a sweet tooth, so I am hoping the next box will have more sweet goodies in them.   I really enjoyed the Two Moms in the Raw truffles, Trujoy Sweets Choco Chews and Bare Snacks Fuji Apples.  Right now, due to my cough and sore throat, salty treats will have to wait to be enjoyed, but I am sure to eat all of the items in this box!    I paid $8.67 for this box, as I used my Groupon deal, and received a value (not including the coupons) of $16.26.  Did you get this month’s Love with Food box?  What is your favorite snack?
