I am a huge fan of X-Files ~ HUGE, I say. I have been waiting for someone to create a collection devoted to X-Files and Tilt/Shift has stepped up to the plate and created one called “I Want To Believe”. Tilt/Shift is an indie company, created by Niamh Falter in Charleston, South Carolina. About Tilt/Shift:
“Tilt/Shift is more than just a makeup company for me; from art, to music, to television, it’s a place to let my passions and creativity shine, and most importantly to share it in a personal and tangible way with others.”
I purchased the full collection and here it is! I am going to add in the references from X-Files that the shade represents. I am that much of an X-Philes ;) All swatches are taken over UD Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
Bad Blood ~ A deep wine red with a pink/purple cast and purple sparks, the colour of-you guessed it-blood. Bad Blood is one of my favorite X-Files episode. It is a very humorous “he-said, she-said (Mulder/Scully)” version of events that occurred in a sleepy town full of vampires. I always love how Mulder and Scully view each other in their point of view, and how the very handsome Sheriff Hartwell, played by Luke Wilson, becomes a bucktoothed hick in Mulder’s telling of the tale. The RV scene is to die for!
This is a great episode, and I am pleased that there is an eyeshadow that honors that particular episode. A tale about vamps deserves a lovely burgundy shade
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Bismuth Oxychloride, Maganese Violet, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide. This shadow is vegan
Boyish Agility ~ “Is this display of boyish agility turning you on?” Yes David Duchovny, in fact it is. I love this one. A light, slightly sheer silver-purple with gold glitter. That quote is from the episode Schizogeny, one of the monster of the week episodes, which in this case was the “killer tree”. However, this quote is about Mulder…David Duchovny…Why don’t you love me?
A silvery-lavender shade, with a golden warmth
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Carmine. This shadow is non-vegan.
Cancer Man ~ A shimmery taupe, the colour of nicotine stains, with silver sparkles, the colour of smoke. The man we loved to hate and wished something horrible would happen to. The puppet master. Played brilliantly by William B Davis, who also is a water skiing champion! (1996 Canadian Water-skiing National Champion)
A medium silvery-taupe shade ~ it is very much like a cool grey smoke vapor with a hint of nicotine stain. Works well with Boyish Agility.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate. This shadow is vegan.
Cerulean Blue ~ Near-matte cerulean blue base and gold shimmer; wear this when you want everyone to be totally under your control… Pusher was one of the more creepy episodes where an “average” man, Modell, who had a brain tumor who discovered he could “push” people to do his bidding, even kill themselves thru the power of suggestion and telepathic ability. The showdown where Modell “pushed” Mulder into a game of Russian Roulette, and then tried to push Mulder into killing Scully is intense. “A little man who wishes he were someone big.” ~ Dana Scully
Just to show you that these shadows DO have sparkle and shine, I took a photo without the flash of Little Green Men and Cerulean Blue ~ without flash, the shadows are out of focus, but the shimmer is more visible.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Chromium Oxide Green, Bismuth Oxychloride, Ferric Amonium Ferrocyanide, Calcium Stearate. This shadow is vegan.
Deep Throat ~ The original double agent. Similar formula to Mr. X, but in the end this one has it’s own way of thinking. Black Base with a strong purple shine and bright blue sparks I really loved this character, played by Jerry Hardin, and was sad to see him murdered at the end of the first season. Chris Carter felt that X-Files needed a character “who works in some level of government that we have no idea exists” which would help Mulder by feeding him bits and pieces of information.

This is a lovely medium charcoal color, with lots of sparks and shimmer. I had to take an out of focus photo so you can see just how beautiful this shade is.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Tin Oxide, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide. This shadow is vegan
Little Green Men ~ Deep emerald green with a blackened base and bright green sparks. I want to believe… So, now I am humming the X-Files theme music….
This is one of my favorites ~ it is a deep hunter green with green glitter.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Ton Oxide, Chromium Oxide. This shadow is vegan
Mr X ~ Mysterious. Intense. Black/purple Base with a strong blue shift and bright green sparks. All of Mulder’s allies seem to die protecting him. He was a colleague of Deep Throat and was even more reluctant to help Mulder, but did so at his own peril.
GOOD GAWD! This color is gorgeous! It is probably the darkest color in the collection ~ a deep black-purple with lots of flash and sparks
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Tin Oxide. This shadow is vegan.
Nonfat Tofutti Rice Dreamsicles (NTRD) ~ Soft but bright creamsicle orange with golden shimmer. Delicious. Ahhh, the mythical treat that Scully taunts Mulder with in The Unnatural, which actually is about a baseball player who was also an alien! Maybe he brought those NTRD to earth ;) BTW, this frozen treat is fictitious ~ I am surprised no has created a nonfat tofutti rice dreamsicle!
- Scully: It’s not ice cream. It’s a nonfat tofutti rice dreamsicle.
- Mulder: Ugh. Bet the air in my mouth tastes better than that. You sure know how to live it up, Scully.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this color when I purchased it in the set, but after I swatched it, I found that I did really like this golden-orange shade. It is like a light bronze-gold color.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate. Yellow #5, Hydrogenated. This shadow is vegan.
Sure. Fine Whatever. ~ Inspired by Scully’s strawberry-blonde hair from earlier seasons, an almost-white cream base with lots of sparkle and shine, inspired by morning frost and springtime sun. The perfect highlight colour for your inner corner! A light bronze with a strong rose sheen and silver glitter. Scully’s sarcastic catch line in Syzygy, an episode about cosmic forces, a beautiful cop and two bratty teen girls.
- Scully: I’m driving. Why do you always have to drive? Because you’re the guy? Because you’re the big, macho man?
- Mulder: No. I was just never sure your little feet could reach the pedals.
This was another color that I wasn’t sure about, but again, once I swatched it, I really do like it a lot! This is a lovely pale bronze shade.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Carmine, Bronze Powder, Silica. This shadow is non-vegan.
Tooms ~ Bile coloured neon green-yellow with subtle silver shimmer. Yummy. Our favorite 100 year old plus homemaker-serial killer that we met in Squeeze, who used bile and newspaper to create his “nest” and used his extra long limbs to get into people’s home to murder them for their livers (yes, he ate them). The actor who played Eugene Tooms, Doug Hutchison, creeped the shit out of David Duchovny~ the scene with the escalator in Tooms ~ the actor WAS truly naked and crawling towards Duchovny, covered in yellow cake frosting!
This is my least favorite shade, as it is a yellow. However, it can be used as a highlighter.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Blue #1, Yellow #5, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene. This shadow is vegan.
Yappi ~ This colour is a show off, just like it’s namesake! A metallic jewel toned bronze/gold with copper glitter. Shiny. This episode is one of my favorites as well, with the wonderful Peter Boyle, as the reluctant psychic who can see how people will die, in “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” Compare the real deal (Clyde) vs the Stupendous Yappi, a charlatan, showy, TV psychic, who claims it is Mulder who is the skeptic instead of Scully! I loved the ending, when Scully, seeing the Yappi TV commercial, picks up the phone ~ you think she is going to call the phone number to get her future ~ instead, she throws the phone at the TV in disgust.

This is another favorite shade of mine in this collection ~ A lovely deep bronze with copper tones. I disliked Yappi, but I love this color!
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, Carnauba Wax, and Magnesium Stearate, Bronze Powder, Silica. This shadow is vegan.
I also received two samples
Vulcan ~ LLAP Mr Spock….A silky matte medium mauve tone, a colour inspired by of the intimidating but beautiful power of a volcano. Beautiful when used to provide depth to your crease, or to line your lower lashline. This might be fun to try as a lipstick or make into a nailpolish.
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, and Carnauba Wax, Bismuth Oxychloride. This shadow is vegan.
Fault ~ A coppery-peach with gold sparkles, inspired by ethereal pre-raphaelite women. Gorgeous used on the lid to brighten your eyes! This is great as a highlighter for your eyes and cheeks!
Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Serecite Mica, and Carnauba Wax, Bronze Powder, Silicon Dioxide, Aluminium Powder, Carmine, Boron Nitride, Bismuth Oxychloride. This shadow is non-vegan.
This collection is amazing and I am pleased with it ~ very happy and I think that Tilt/Shift took the time to review X-Files and match up the shades with the names. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about some of the colors, but after swatching them, they are all workable, even Tooms. It is part of their permanent collection, so if you like it, you can purchase the complete set or individuals, even sample sizes. I also felt a loss of a fantastic series, and was overwhelmed when I was looking up the quotes and photos. X-Files was cleverly written, with characters that were rich and well thought out. Good times….
On that note, I leave you with this funny meme

Did you purchase “I Want To Believe” Collection or some of the shadows from this collection? What do you think of it? I would love to have some lip products for this collection as well! Do you miss X-Files as much as I do? I read that they are thinking of doing more episodes!!
