Memebox Special #74 Cleopatra Review

Back in late October, Memebox announced a couple of boxes that sounded like they would be sequels to some of the best curated boxes that they have done.   One of them was Memebox Special #74 Cleopatra, which sounded just like the Special #7 Milk Box, which the Milk box was described as such:

We all know milk is good for teeth and bones, but betcha didn’t know it’s also good for your skin! Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, is a famous beauty icon who is known to have used milk as a secret ingredient for maintaining smooth, supple and radiant skin. Milk has healing properties that repairs sun damaged skin, prevents premature aging, and also provides abundant nutrients for a youthful look. Now, we’re letting out this ancient beauty secret with our Milk Box to share with you all the skincare benefits that milk has to offer!

Eager to get another Milk box, I ordered the Cleopatra box!

Informational Card

As these products are unknown to me and perhaps even to my readers, I am posting a description of the product under my thoughts for every product.  Normally, I just do a snippet or if it is a product that doesn’t really need a description, I won’t post it.  But for the purposes of my Memeboxes, I will make sure I find the appropriate description, usage and ingredient list if I can find it.   The descriptions will be from the webpage that is linked to the product name.  Not all of these products are sold in the Memebox Shop, so I had to look for them on various sites.   I really had a hard time finding these products, by the way, so don’t be thrown off by the Korean websites that are linked here!

AWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH….look at how cute that mama goat is with her baby

Xaivita+ Goat Milk Whitening Cream   This is the most exciting item in the box for me.  It is a cream made with goat’s milk, 10,000ppm, which helps moisture while protecting skin by creating a moisture barrier.   I am not opening this up yet, as it is sealed, yes, sealed, and I really want to use this cream once I finish with some other ones.   According to the description, this cream absorbs quickly into the skin, without irritation, has a whitening effect while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Goat’s milk contains vitamins and other nutrients and provides 3 times the amount of lactic acid than normal milk.  This contains peppermint extract, which helps with fatigue.  This also has grapefruit, rosewood oil, lavender, soybean and lemon extracts as well.  I am really excited about this cream. Full Size 70 g Value $70.00

Ingredients: water, glycerin, butylene glycol, triethylhexanoin, niacinamide, dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, 1,2-hexanediol, sodium hyaluronate (1%), jojoba esters, goat milk extract, glyceryl stearate, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, betaine, cetearyl alcohol,  phytosqualane, arachidyl alcool, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, caprylic/capric triglyceride, panthenol, PEG-100 stearate, behenyl alcohol,  acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, grapefruit peel extract, PEG-40 stearate, tromethamine, sodium dehydroacetate, caulerpa lentillifera extract, glycine soja (soybean) phtoplacenta extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, tocopheryl acetate, adenosine, disodium EDTA, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, citrus limon (lemon) peel oil, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) peel oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, monarda didyma leaf extract,  chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower/leaf extract, mentha piperita (peppermint) leaf extract, freesia alba flower extract analysis didn’t find any unusual triggers for my skin type, but as always, check the ingredient list if you have sensitivity or allergic reactions to certain products.

Cossu Body Ade – Rose  I loathe rose  ~ even if I weren’t allergic to it, by now I would hate it.  Too many rose scented products in my boxes.   Anyway, this is a bubble cleanser that is multifunctional, can be used as a foam cleanser, body wash, shampoo and bubble-y bath.  This is made with 75% pure rose water, as well as lemon extracts, tomato extracts, pomegranate extracts, AHA and I want to say green tea extracts as well, based on the ingredient pictures, but don’t quote me here.  This product leaked all over my box and I am not feeling to good right now, due to a migraine that just got triggered by the rose.   It still has a good amount in it, but the color is not translucent, like the photos, but milky.  I wonder if it is the cold temperatures.  Full Size 190 mL Value $29.00

Leaky box….(or 6 months in a leaky boat)

Product Description:  This is a liquid type bubble soap enriched with 75% pure rose water, an ingredient known to have been used for Cleopatra’s daily baths.  It provides intense hydration and soothing relief while clarifying and nourishing dry, tired skin.  To be use as a foam cleanser, a body wash, a shampoo and a bubble bath.

willSpa Touch Secret Touch for Women The second rose product in this box and I would have loved another aromatherapy item, except this had rose.   I have not opened it up to smell it, of course, but I have read that it smells primarily of lavender, but I just cannot risk it.   It is not a vagina perfume, despite what the name states!! haha  This is made with 100% essential oils, including frankincense ~ which isn’t being listed on the official website (interesting), bergamot, ylang ylang, rose geranium, rose absolute, lavender, jojoba and patchouli.  You roll this on your pressure points ~ your neck and your wrists.  Full Size 12 mL Value$35.00

Calmia Facial Cleanser Oatmeal Therapy Foam This is the second most exciting item in the box for me.  This is a deep cleansing foam made with oatmeal, moringa extract, 7 vegetable extracts and an herbal blend of portulaca, lavender, rosemary, chamomile, basil and houttuynia cordata (bishop’s weed) that helps cleanse your face free of oil and dirt.  This is specially formulated for those with oily to combo-oily skin.  Full Size 150 mL Value $10.00

Additional Information

Product Description: Advanced cleansing foam with enhanced cleansing and moisturizing.  It is deep cleansing foam with less skin irritation containing natural ingredients.  Oatmeal extract (1500 mg), which cleanses, softens the skin, moisturizes and contains vitamins A, B1, B2, PP and mineral salts. Oatmeal also helps heal skin, soothe irritated and sensitive skin.  Moringa extract is a source of oleic acid, which helps with reducing skin inflammation and acne.  It also removes toxins and germs, and improves skin elasticity.  Organic nutrients from seven vegetables extracts (cabbage leaves, tomato, carrots, broccoli, celery, turnip) to soothe and moisturize skin, act as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. These nutrients are extracted under low temperature, so nutrients and vitamins are not destroyed

Aromawiz Spa Bath Bomb Chocolate I love the scent of this and I will cut it up in quarters, as my bath tub isn’t that big.  This is a 100% handmade Spa Bath Bomb that has a bitter-sweet chocolate scent to it.   I do cry foul on the price of this product.  This is one damn major MemeInflated price tag.  I have gotten used to Memebox showing the retail value ~ which no one ever sells for ~ AND Aromawiz‘s own site doesn’t sell this for more than $6.00  Grrr Memebox Full Size 150 g Value $42.00

Product Description: Enriched with all kinds of skin-nourishing ingredients, this 100% hand-made Spa Bath Bomb offers a deeply moisturizing, soothing, and nourishing spa bath with abundant bitter-sweet chocolate bubbles!

How To Use: Drop the bath bomb into a tub of water and let it melt & bubble up. Enjoy a nice hot bath for 15~20 minutes and take a quick shower afterwards to rinse off everything.

I had been hoping that Cleopatra would have been Milk II sequel, but it is nothing like it and a bit of a pale imitation.  Memebox is now only giving us 5 items per box (oh the days of 6-7 items and facial sheet masks) and whereas they have touted recently “quality” over “quantity”, the original Milk Box was a quality box.  Two rose products and only one milk item and not one gold product ~ the fancy pic for this box is just littered with gold.  Three of the products I will use and I do like, but ..there is no “there” there.  Something is lacking.  I am really excited about the Goat’s Milk facial cream ~ that sounds divine.  But the rest of the box is a bit bland, as I can only use the cleanser and bath bomb….and the bath bomb is really overpriced.    It isn’t a bad box, but the quality of Memebox is not what it used to be, if you read my earlier reviews back this summer.  I did find that the other box that I purchased in this bundle, Empress’s Secrets, is much better.  I should have that review up by tomorrow.

I paid $29.00 + $6.99 in shipping, for a total of $35.99 ~ I am sure I had Memepoints and this box was much less ~ and received a MemeValue ** of $186.00.  ** What is MemeValue?  It is my term to describe the value that Memebox puts on the products, which can be very over inflated.  You can usually find these products at a lesser cost, so I do suggest researching first if you wish to purchase them.

Because of my leaky box and the reference to the Split Enz song, I am humming along with that tune…The song doesn’t really begin until 1:26

  1. My rose soap also leaked everywhere. It was milky, but turned clear once it had sat for a while. I’m assuming that they froze and expanded in transit. That said, it’s a bummer rose doesn’t agree with you, because this one is a really nice true to life rose scent.

    1. Ahh, thank you!! At least I can trade it away for something else or gift it. I am letting it sit out in my kitchen, where it is warm there, and hopefully it will turn clear. I hate throwing away anything, if someone else can use it 🙂

      Liked by 1 person

  2. My box was damp, also, but didn’t smell like the rose cleanser. My Empress box in the same express plain cardboard box was dry as can be, as it was on top, thankfully. My impression of 3 of the products:

I used the rose cleanser as a body wash in my bath. It smells like old lady single- note rose. Very un-fresh rose. I hate it.

The roll on : aromatherapy: scent ISN’T. It has virtually NO scent. I am allergic to lavender, but after reading your review, decided to crack open the cardboard tube and try it. I really liked the other aromatherapy roll on we got in the Christmas box ( I think it was) but this one doesn’t smell like anything, except vaguely like ” dirt”. I would not use it again.

I cracked my bath bomb apart in a plastic bag with a rubber mallet. Used a portion tonight and it also has NO detectable scent at all. I wouldn’t pay $5.00 for it! Memebox flat out lied about the retail price.
This was a very disappointing box. At least there was no black kohl eyeliner pencil, right? 🙂

I think Memebox and I have said our farewells over a box I never received- they sent the wrong one and won’t admit it. I am so pissed.

    1. I agree 100% about the bath bomb – it smells faintly of chocolate directly, but as soon as you put it in water, absolutely no more scent.

  3. The Xaivita goat milk cream is available at for 250 HK dollars or $29.46 They don’t usually overvalue two items so highly but that reduces the total value of this box by $76!! I’m glad I didn’t order this box.
