Memebox Collaboration Box #9 Memebox X Soothing Sista Box Review

I have resisted Memebox Collaboration boxes for some time now.  They just didn’t interest me and I felt that the majority of the Collaborations were not made by K-Beauty fans.   However, when Stephanie @ Soothing Sista came out with the 9 edition of a Memebox Collaboration and I saw the video on the products, I did purchase it, as there was one product in the box I knew I had to have!   This box sold out in 3 hours, but at the time this box went on sale, Memebox had (and still is) been starving their customers with a lack of good new boxes.

What is Memebox?

I have a whole section in my blog,  devoted to Memebox, so if you want to know more, check out the Memebox category.

Collaboration Box #9 Memebox X Soothing Sista

Most often found on the streets of San Francisco, Soothing Sista AKA Stephanie Villa is taking the YouTube world by storm with her skincare, makeup and fashion tutorials. Showcasing looks for the edgier goddess in you, Stephanie isn’t afraid to take a risk.  She’s hand-picked hottest skincare and makeup products of the month straight from Korea, which we’re sure you’ll love!

Look how pretty this box is!  I will keep this to store all of my Memecards.

Informational Card which should explain what I got and its value.

As these products are unknown to me and perhaps even to my readers, I am posting a description of the product under my thoughts for every product.  Normally, I just do a snippet or if it is a product that doesn’t really need a description, I won’t post it.  But for the purposes of my Memeboxes, I will make sure I find the appropriate description, usage and ingredient list if I can find it.   The descriptions will be from the webpage that is linked to the product name.  Not all of these products are sold in the Memebox Shop, so I had to look for them on various sites.   I really had a hard time finding these products, by the way, so don’t be thrown off by the Korean websites that are linked here!

Vicioni Super Aqua Soothing Serum  I am always thrilled in getting more serums and ampoules in my Memeboxes!   This serum is 100% natural and contains sea grapes (caulerpa racemosa), which is a seaweed, full of sea minerals, vitamins and nutrients.  It also includes rice bran, hyaluronic acid, mushroom ferments and aloe vera.   The card states this isn’t pleasant smelling, but I found this serum to smell refreshing and very nice.   This will go into my vast collection of serum rotation!  Full Size 30mL  Value $29.00

Product Description: Do something good for your skin! This Super Aqua Soothing Serum is free of carbomer, silicon, artificial ingredients, and chemical preservatives to give your skin a cosmic blast of naturally beautifying ingredients. Use it daily to replenish, brighten, soothe, and smooth the complexion.

Tonymoly Egg Pore Blackhead Steam Balm   I actually like this for the packaging!  haha  This product should have been in MCW4 instead of those pore strips.  This is a gel-cleanser which has scrubbing beads and helps remove dead skin cells, sebum and impurities (blackheads, whiteheads) all at the same time and it is self heating.   It is free from parabens, mineral oil, tar dye, benzophenone, triethanolamine.   It has a light citrus scent to it and I am more interested in this product to help control the oiliness I have, not so much blackheads.   Full Size 30g  Value $11.00

Product Description: This self-heating steam balm opens up clogged pores and extracts all unwelcome pore-dwellers for a smoother, more supple surface skin.  Three types of natural exfoliators – white salt, charcoal powders, and egg yolk – remove blackheads, whiteheads, and dead skin cells to cleanse and minimize pores.

How To Use:  On a clean, dry face, apply product on your nose and wait a few minutes, then massage product for about 3 minutes, until the clear oil turns white.  Rinse off with water and use 1-2 times a week for best results

Key Ingredients:  Fertilized eggs component (50 ppm), white vinegar, hot water, charcoal powder, green tea powder, sea salt

Ingredients: glycerin, isopropyl myristate, polyglyceryl -3 methylglucose distearate,  polysorbate 80, cetearyl alcohol, sea salt, spring water (onsensui), charcoal powder,  vinegar, egg shell powder, cellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, panthenyl triacetate, zea mays (corn) starch, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose,  ascorbic acid, tocopheryl acetate, egg yolk extract, xanthophyll, titanium dioxide (CI 77891), glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, mannitol,  hydrogenated lecithin,  shellac, camellia sinesis (green tea) leaf powder, iron hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, ethyl hexylglycerin, caprylyl glycol, iron oxides (CI 77492), fragrance

Shara Shara Miracle Capsule Cream Black Bear  How cute is this packaging!!  I love bears 😀 Based on the card description, this is a pretty heavy duty moisturizer and will rejuvenate your skin.  I think this will be saved as a nighttime moisturizer for me.  Full Size 50mL Value $18.00

Product Description: This anti-wrinkle moisturizer is enriched with glacial water and 24 types of nourishing oil to deliver a surge of moisture to the skin to firm, rejuvenate, and revitalize the skin.

Ingredients: water (Aqua), butylene glycol, glycerin, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer,  triethanolamine, hyaluronic acid, ethyl hexanediol, dimethicone, PPG-26-buteth-26, bis-PEG-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane  PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil,  hydrolyzed collagen, glyceryl caprylate, allantoin, adenosine, 1,2-hexanediol, thuja occidentalis leaf extract, argania spinosa(argan) kernel oil,  nelumbium speciosum (lotus) flower extract, trehalose, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, glacier water (binghasu), acacia senegal gum, caulerpa lentillifera (sea grape) extract,  lithospermum erythrorhizon root oil, coriandrum sativum (coriander) seed oil, cinnamomum camphora (camphor tree) bark oil,  prunus persica (peach) kernal oil, juniperus communis fruit oil, perilla ocymoides (sesame) seed oil, gossypium herbaceum (cotton) seed oil,  santalum album (sandalwood) oil, atractyloides japonica root oil, zingiber officinale (ginger) root oil, luffa cylindrica seed oil, arctium lappa seed oil, coix lacryma-jobi ma-yuen (job’s tears) seed oil), carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil), sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, pinus koraiensis seed oil, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, juglans regia (walnut) seed oil, cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed oil, mallotus japonicus flower oil, gardenia floria oil, curcuma aromatica root oil, citrus unshiu fruit oil, glycolic acid, fragrance

I ran the list of ingredients thru  and whereas there are a few triggers for acne, it is no more than I normally see for many moisturizers that aren’t specifically formulated for oily skin.   I will give this a go, but it will wait in line, as I have other sleeping packs I want to get to first!

Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Primer Essence  I don’t really use primer, so I am debating if I should try this or not.  It just seems like it is just one more item to add to my skincare routine, and I don’t like to gunk up my face with these types of products.   This isn’t an oil-free product and based on what I have found, it is more hydrating than most primers;   so I think this product would be better for those with combination and dry skin tones.   I had known when I purchased this box that this item would be at least one of a couple of items I would not use.  Full Size 20mL Value $11.00

Product Description: The silky, lightweight formula mattifies excessive oil and shine, and enhances makeup adherence. It can be worn under makeup to fill in uneven skin surfaces and visible pores, creating a smoother-than-smooth canvas.

Dewytree Deep Detox Black Mask  I have tried these masks before and I do like the detox version.  These masks are soaked with essence so I always use the extra on my neck and décolletage.  Once again, it seems that this item would have been a perfect fit in another box, Blackout!  This mask will detox your skin by removing impurities, excess sebum and dead skin cells while hydrating your skin.  Full Size 1 Sheet Value $3.00

Vivito Painting Matte Finish Lip Stick Randomly selected from RD01 Sour Red, RD02 Red Sun, RD03 Red Ribbon, PP01 Raspberry Purple, PP02 Orchid Purple  I received color Orchid Purple and I am SO happy!   I love purple lippies and this is a nice vibrant color, which is perfect to chase the winter blahs away.  This is supposed to be a matte finish, but it doesn’t have that drying look that many matte lipsticks have.   I really like Vivito items and have received a few of them already in my Memeboxes.  Vivito is part of the Shara Shara company.  Full Size Value $30.00

Product Description: This lipstick paints lips with covetable color and ultra-comfortable texture. Enriched with a cocktail of nourishing ingredients, this must-have lipstick plumps and hydrates lips while offering a balance between beautiful hue and ultra comfortable wear.

Revecen Blooming Collagentox Sleeping Water Pack  This product is why I purchased this box!!  Birds Nest extract is just the spit of a certain type of swallow (more on that later)    I do not know why this item wasn’t in OMG4 instead of some of the other products that were in there as this is an OMG product!   This product has the bird’s nest, as well as snail filtrate, aloe vera, prickly ash berries and citrus extracts.   This product has a nice refreshing scent, slightly floral but not overpowering.   It absorbs nicely and there is no sticky or tacky feeling left behind.   Full Size 90ml Value $18.00

Product Description: This nourishing overnight facial treatment delivers powerful snail mucin extract, bird nest extract, and prickly ash berries to the skin to replenish lost moisture, firm up and tone the skin, and even out uneven complexions.

What is Bird Nest Extract?Woven by swiftlets from their saliva, edible Bird’s Nest (or Bird’s Nest) is one of the most popular tonics in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Bird’s Nest is reputed to maintain youthfulness and enhance the complexion. Modern studies have shown that Bird’s Nest is rich in epidermal growth factor(EGF). This substance is responsible for skin and tissue repair.”  From and learn more about Birds Nest at

“Birds nest is another ingredient in many Korean skin care products. Cosmetic companies harvest the nests of swallows, because the nests are believed to contain a large concentration of glycoprotein, antioxidants, and amino acids which are beneficial to human skin. All these compounds are thought to fight the signs of aging by promoting healthy cell growth, stimulating the skin’s healing process, and targeting free radicals”  from

Worried about the conservation of using Bird’s Nest in skincare and food products?  Read here to learn about how Asian countries are taking steps to conserve and protect swiftlets

I ran the ingredient list thru and only found a couple of triggers, but nothing out of the ordinary

I am really happy with the Soothing Sista box ~ it is very well curated and Stephanie at Soothing Sista seems to have really picked these items out herself, even if she may not have used them before.  I am really excited to try out the sleeping pack and the lip color is just so pretty.

I paid $23.00 + $6.99 in shipping, for a total of $29.99 ~ I am sure I had Memepoints and this box was much less ~ and received a MemeValue ** of $120.00.  ** What is MemeValue?  It is my term to describe the value that Memebox puts on the products, which can be very over inflated.  You can usually find these products at a lesser cost, so I do suggest researching first if you wish to purchase them.

  1. I am so obsessed with this lippie! And I have to agree with Sam here in that you were super lucky with your color. I got the Raspberry Purple and have since purchased or traded for two others. The texture of this thing is just unlike any other matte lipstick I’ve ever tried. Can’t stop until we have them all! #kbeautybloghop (I feel badly I’m so late visiting blogs this week, but life got in the way 😦 )
