Memebox Primary Raw DoYou Soy Facial Cream Review

I received a wonderful item from Memebox last week, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.  It is the  Primary Raw DoYou Soy Facial Cream, which will be featured in one of the already released boxes ~ I don’t want to spoil it for those who do not know which box it will be in, so I am not telling!  “DoYou” means “Soy Milk” in Korean.

Yes, that is a cat hair on the bag….Obi Wan always helps me open my Memeboxes!

My cream came in this really nice cotton bag, that has a really nice design of…soybeans!!  I love this print, it reminds me of old botanical prints from the 18th and 19th century.

The packaging of this product is just exceptional to me.  I love products that come in these earthy and natural looking packaging and I am impressed by Primary Raw’s presentation of their product.   The Soy Milk facial cream is in a sturdy glass jar with the same botanical print featured on the bag.   I am going to reuse this jar once I am done with this cream, as I think it is just so pretty.  This cream comes with an impressive spatula/spoon to scoop out the facial cream.

The official description of this facial cream is that Primary Raw DoYou Soy Facial Cream is designed to brighten and moisturize your skin all at once using fermented soy.

There is no scent to this cream that I can smell and the texture is more of a gel-cream hybrid, which I have found to be my favorite type of facial cream texture.  You can see that it “strings” up a bit, which I feel is due to the snail mucus in the product.   DoYou Soy Milk facial cream contains soybean extract, rice bran water, wheat germ oil, snail mucus, green tea, fermented ginger, aloe vera and other great ingredients.

Ingredients:  Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Water, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Olivate, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycereth-26, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tritcum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasloxane, Lactobacillus/Soymilk Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Beta-Glucan, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Copper Tripeptide-1, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Algae Extract, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutia (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Butyrospermum Parkii, Arginine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Troplone,  Lactobacillus/Aspergillus/Prunus Mume Extract Ferment Filtrate, Lactobacillus/Portulaca Oleracea Ferment Extract, Natto Gum, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Allantoin, Panthenol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra(Licorice) Extract, Mannan, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Tocopheryl Acetate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract,  Avena Sativa (Oat) Meal Extract, Lysolecithin, Soy Isoflavone, Sodium Polyacrylate, Pyrus Cydonia (Quince) Seed Extract, Disodium EDTA, Ceramide 3, Ubiquinone, Caramel, Citrus Aurantium Bergarnia (Bergamot) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorate Flower Oil, Juniperus Oxycedrus Fruit Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil

I ran the ingredient list thru and found that a couple of products might trigger my acne, such as the wheat germ oil, so I decided to use this as a night cream, as I feel this would have been too heavy for day time use on my oily skin type.

There were two ingredients that were not picked up by cosDNA analysis, so I did a little research on them and they seem to be very beneficial.

Soy Isoflavone is used as a skin-brightener and works well with sun damage hyper-pigmentation.

Lactobacillus/Aspergillus/Prunus Mume Extract Ferment  is the fermentation of Astragalus Membranaceus (huáng qí) Root Extract and it is one of the traditional herbs in Chinese medicine.    For skin care, it is best for skin conditioning (moisturizing)

I have been using Primary Raw DoYou Soy Facial Cream as a night cream for 6 days now and I am impressed with it.  The texture is very smooth and slick and I was worried about the initial feeling on my skin, which felt like a thin coating of oil, but then the cream just absorbed into my skin.    My face felt “dewy” and well-moisturized.   I was concerned about acne, due to a couple of ingredients that were potentially triggers, but I did not experience any unusual breakouts or issues when using this cream.

My face felt very hydrated and plump ~ not with fat, but with moisture, haha ~ in the morning, and there was no residue left on my face when I woke up.   I have to say this works beautifully as a night cream for me.   If you have dry skin or combo skin that leans on the drier side, this cream would be great as a day cream.  For those like me, oily skin or combo skin that leans on the oilier side, this cream works fantastic as a night cream.   I might also be tempted to use this cream during the day if the weather is really arid, windy and cold.    As with any  product, please check out the ingredient list I’ve provided and see if there are any products that you might allergic to.  This is a soy-based cream, so for those who are allergic to soy, a patch test is always recommended.

I am so happy that I am getting this cream in an already released-and-on-its-way-to-me Memebox, as I really can use another backup.  I hope that Memebox will carry Primary Raw DoYou Soy Milk Facial Cream in their shop, so that those who did not receive this item in their Memebox can purchase it :D  It is only available at Primary Raw’s online shop at this moment for sale.  Memebox does have Primary Raw DoYou Soy Milk Facial Cream in their Memeshop, but it is “out of stock”.  Add it to your wishlist to let Memebox know you would like them to carry it!

I also received this really cute DIY Candle, with the same jar as the facial cream

  1. Prepare the empty Do You Cream bottle: Soy Wax, wick, and essential oil.
  2. Pour 100ml of water into an empty pot.
  3. Place the empty Do You Cream bottle into the pot, and warm
  4. Fill the empty Do You Cream bottle with the Soy Wax (chop up the wax first in to smaller chunks), and mix with a wooden stick until mixture is smooth.
  5. Turn off the heat, and wait until the mixture has slightly cooled, and mix in the essential oil.
  6. Place the wick in the center of the mix and hold it in place using a wooden stick.

I obviously haven’t made my candle yet ~ it is a project that I am saving for this weekend :)   I will update this blog post with my results of my home experiment in candle making.  I’ve haven’t made a candle since 6th grade, where we made a red, white & blue candle, using Gulf Wax paraffin, crayons and a big tin can.

OHHH….Look what is on IG under memebox_korea ~ I hope this comes to the Memeshop soon!  I love the first Pony Palette ~ I did a review here on my blog and it also made my November favorite products list!

  1. That cream has the most gorgeous packaging ever! I prefer water/gel type creams as well because they sink into my skin so much better. I really hope the Memeshop starts stocking this too because I think I might HAVE to buy it! Also it was so nice of them to send you a DIY candle too! If you have trouble keeping the wick from in place while the candle hardens, here’s a little tip I learned: punch a hole in a piece of tape and stick the wick through it, then stick the wick in the wax and lay the tape across the mouth of the jar. Now the wax will harden and the wick will stay in place🙂 Hope your weekend project brings back great 6th grade candle-making memories!
