Memebox Special #55 OMG 4 Review

I never planned on purchasing another OMG box after my disappointment in the OMG first edition.  However, a fellow beauty blogger had a convo with Memebox on the OMG series and they had told her that OMG 4 was going to be THE OMG-y BOX EVER.  So, I rolled the dice and picked up this box with My Cute Wishlist 4 in a bundle, as I wanted to get my hot little hands on it quickly.  I guess I wanted to know with my own eyes if this box was the box of all boxes in the OMG series.

Memebox  Special #55 OMG 4

All countries have those strange beauty products that make you go huh and hmm, and Korea is no exception.  This 4th OMG Box is bursting with a range of bizarre and brilliant to “WTF?!” but we promise that these beauty befuddlements will provide a wide range of beauty benefits.  We admit, these beauty innovations may look slightly intimidating at first, but we know that you secretly want to give these crazies a try!

The spoiler for this box looked REALLY promising ~ it is an abalone cream, so I was pretty excited about this box.

Informational Card which should explain what I got and its value.

As these products are unknown to me and perhaps even to my readers, I am posting a description of the product under my thoughts for every product.  Normally, I just do a snippet or if it is a product that doesn’t really need a description, I won’t post it.  But for the purposes of my Memeboxes, I will make sure I find the appropriate description, usage and ingredient list if I can find it.   The descriptions will be from the webpage that is linked to the product name.  Not all of these products are sold in the Memebox Shop, so I had to look for them on various sites.   I really had a hard time finding these products, by the way, so don’t be thrown off by the Korean websites that are linked here!

Nadu Skin The First Love Pack    First off, I am not a prude.  I am all for sexy times and have been around the block a few times.   That said, this is the WTF product of the box.  When Memebox started putting tampons, vaginal perfume and vaginal washes in the boxes, many MemeCustomers were very upset ~ stay away from my lady-parts, they cried!!   Memebox has gotten this message on Facebook and also in emails, I am sure of it.    The reason why I was like WTF is that I will not put a product that is scented on my vagina.  Nope.  And now, I will be a bit frank and graphic.  And for men, let’s face it, what about guys who are not circumcised?  I had a boyfriend that wasn’t circumcised and he had to take great care to clean his  foreskin to ensure nothing got too moist down there, otherwise….. Anyway, you get the idea.  I am not putting this on my crotch ~ what if there is an ingredient that causes my skin to break out in allergic reaction?  I don’t want to explain that to my doctor.  Okay, enough of my rant on this item ~ lol.   The lady mask is a Pomegranate bio-cellulose mask and the gent mask is a Black Raspberry mask.  I wish these were facial sheet masks!!  And I always complain that Memebox should be giving us more than one mask, so I guess they listened there ~ haha    This is an OMG product due to the “shock” value as it does get a reaction.    I couldn’t find this product on online, so I do not know what the ingredients are in it other than the main ones, which is why I recommend being careful about using these.  BTW – my “Y” zone is cared for, Memebox.  Just not by you 😉   Full Size Lady Mask 12 mL Value $4.00  Gent Mask 18 mL Value $2.00

Product Description: Here’s to a truly OMG product in the history of Memebox – specially designed mask packs for a female’s and male’s Y zone (definitely not for facial use!) – to be used to moisture and treat the most sensitive yet uncared for part of the body.    They’re formulated with lavender flower water and various moisturizing nutrients and each designed to perfectly fit female and male body

Pureplus + Cocoon Returning Toner  YES!!  Now, this is an OMG product.   This is a toner that works well with my oily skin type, as it controls sebum and exfoliates dead skin cells.   The main star attraction is that it is made with Silkworm Cocoon extracts, which is the exfoliating ingredient in this item.  The toner also has witch hazel, which is a natural astringent, and grapefruit, lemon, yuzu (citrus junos) extracts to help brighten your skin tone.   I am really excited to get this product and hope that Memebox will carry this item soon.  Full Size 200 mL  Value $18.00

Product Description:  Replenish, control excess sebum, remove dead skin cells and impurities, and brighten up a dulled complexion with this returning toner packed with cocoon extracts, witch hazel and various vitamins to make your face look and feel younger.

Abalone Crystal Double EX Cream    This is another OMG worthy product.  This was our main spoiler to the box.  This is made with fermented abalone (mollusks), black bean extract and watermelon extract.  Abalone are high in minerals, proteins, amino acids, fatty acids and it seems that their benefits are similar to snail mucus ~ hydration, skin revitalizing and wrinkle reducing.  Crystal Double EX Cream also contains niacinamide, which helps brighten and even out skin tone, in regards to hyperpigmention.    Could abalone products be the next big thing?   Some of the minerals and vitamins  that abalone have are potassium, phosphorous, copper, selenium, niacin, biotin, folic acid,  calcium, Vitamins A, E, B3 and B5.   This is a very thick and creamy facial cream and I will use it as a night cream.   It has no odor and I think this cream is very suited to dry skin during the day.   BTW, in my research, the $78.00 price tag is understating it.  I found this cream being sold higher than that amount.    Full Size 50 mL Value $78.00

Product Description:   It’s time to feed the skin! This Abalone Crystal Double EX Cream is concentrated with fermented abalone, black been extract, and watermelon extract to deliver a cosmic blast of skin care benefits. It contains high levels of minerals, proteins, amino acids, and essential fatty acids to provide remarkable skin revitalizing, wrinkle reducing, skin brightening, and hydrating benefits. It also soothes irritated skin, and enhances the skin’s elasticity to deliver visible anti-aging results with each use!

What is Abalone? The abalone is well known not only for its taste, but also for its remarkable effects on the skin, such as skin irritation relief, skin revitalization, wrinkle reduction, whitening effect, and moisturizing effect. This is a fermented abalone cosmetic product that you have never experienced before. Eurocostech has perfected the fermentation of abalone, also known as the food of the emperor, in order to create this product. Experience the miracle of abalone with Abalone Crystal Double EX Cream, which attacks fine wrinkles, skin rigidity, and skin pigmentation.

And now the box goes way downhill from here.    It is like someone else curated this tossed random items in the box.

Shara Shara Secret Magic Lipstick   Randomly selected from 01 Sky to Pop Pink, 02 Green to Pink, 03 Yellow to Mango.   I received the Yellow to Mango color.  Since color changing lipsticks have been around since I was a kid ~ which was before cable and the internet, this is not an OMG product.  However, I was thinking I could give it to one of my nieces as this would be a fun lipstick for her, but alas, my lipstick came all broke.     Full Size 3.5 g Value $8.00

Product Description:  A secret color-transforming lipstick which offers a highly pigmented radiance, a long lasting adherence and a moisture lock-in in just a single swipe.   Experience how it magically changes to its shade according to the temperature of your lips.  Its gentle formula is enriched with avocado oil and tocopheryl acetate which effectively protects lips from dehydration.

How To Use: Use a concealer or foundation to tone down the lip contours first.  Apply the lipstick and wait 10 seconds until its color becomes more vivid.   Coat a thin layer of lip gloss for extra plump and gloss.

Dr MJ Moisture Bounce Aqua Memory BB SPF 30 PA++   So….a BB cream in a jar is OMG worthy?  I don’t think so.  Even if I used BB creams, I don’t like foundations in a jar, I like the tube applicators.    I am sure this is a great product ~ Dr MJ’s Bee Tox  Control cream is wonderful.   This BB cream contains olive oil, sunflower oil, cactus, wheat and mistletoe extracts among many other ingredients .    Full Size 45 g Value $46.00

Product Description: Yes we’ve all been through a BB cream, but what about a bouncy, jelly-like BB packaged in a bottle and scooped up with a spatula like any other facial cream?  DrMJ Moisture Bounce Aqua Memory BB adheres tightly onto skin with its cushiony texture and offers wrinkle care, UV protection and skin brightening effect as well.

Purebess Hot Styling Hair Fixer  This looks like grease on a comb.  Seriously – lol.    This is to help “fix” stray hairs if you do an up-do or a style that requires that slick, hair-in-place look.  I have chin-length hair, so no up-do’s for me.   I also like my messy bed-head hair look.   My hair type craves texturizing products, not slick 1980’s “Addicted To Love” hair.  Full Size 8 g Value $16.00

Product Description:  No it’s not a hair spray or wax gel cream.  It’s a hair fixer that you can apply multiple times consecutively because the formula is non-sticky and lightweight and it’s shaped into an easy to use mascara-like package!  Simply swipe away to fix up and style any loose hair for that perfect stewardess look.

This box was dismal in the OMG factor for me. It almost seems like 2 different boxes ~ the top side of the card  was pretty OMG worthy but the flip side of the card was like huh?   When I think of OMG products, I am thinking primarily of ingredients.  When I saw that the new Soothing Sista collaboration box has a bird’s nest sleeping pack with snail mucus, I was a bit peeved.  I feel that Memebox did it again ~ they  took items that should have been in a themed box to put in a Collaborator’s box.      The coochie masks were an insult ~ not because I was offended by them, but because I know that many MemeCustomers didn’t want products for their lady-parts in their Memeboxes and many women do not like putting scented products on their vagina.   It is not good for you.  Trust me on this one.  If you are stinky down there, it is due to factors that can be attributed to hygiene, diet or health issues ~ all of which if you cannot resolve, you should see your doctor.  It could be something serious.  Off my soapbox now.

I paid $23.00 + $6.99 in shipping, for a total of $29.99 ~ I am sure I had Memepoints and this box was much less ~ and received a MemeValue ** of $172.00.    I will not be purchasing OMG boxes unless they can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can curate one.  Once again, Memebox took a solid gold concept that would have been a fantastic series and just wasted it.  If they had included the Bird’s Nest Sleeping Pack in this box instead of the Hair Fixer or BB Cream, this box would have been so much more acceptable and I probably would have purchased another OMG box in the future.   Even the Thanksgiving box had a pretty unusual ingredient in the Gokmul toner/ampoule item that would have fit with an OMG theme.    I will only use two products out of this box, but thankfully, they were the more higher priced items, so I guess I will chalk this up to another lesson learned.

  1. Do you know where I can purchase the Dr MJ BB Cream? It is actually really awesome. My daughter loves it as well and now we are fighting over it. I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
