My mud mask came in a HUGE 16 oz jar and I eagerly opened it up to look at it. This is a lovely, creamy looking grey-green mud product with no noticeable scent. I love a good mud mask, as I have oily skin and need a deep detox treatment once a week that will help clear out some of the oiliness of my skin and acne. What is different for me with this mask is that is has hydrating ingredients, such as jojoaba oil and shea butter, plus soothing aloe vera, which should help with any irritation on my skin.

Dead Sea Mud will contain “Dead Salt” and that has show a 40% reduction in the wrinkle depth. It will also contain magnesium which is great for hydration and an anti-inflammatory. Dead Sea Mud will draws oils, toxins and debris from your skin and can be used all over your body, not just your face.
According to wiki, Dead Sea Mud contains the following minerals
First usage of mask: I followed the directions and applied a thin layer of the mask all over my face, avoiding my lip and eye area. It has a nice texture, like pudding. As it dried, I noticed that my skin started to tighten, which is normal with these types of clay/mud masks. However, I also noticed a slight itchy feeling around my cheeks and forehead. I then washed it off after 15 minutes and my skin felt smooth and not dried out.
So what is up with the itchy feeling? It is the salt in the mud, I believe. My skin is not overly sensitive, but it did react in this manner due to the salt. So…….I decided to tackle that sensitivity issue with my second use of this mask
Second usage of mask: I first put a thin layer of facial oil (which I normally do not use, but hey, I have them!) on my cheeks, forehead and also around the folds of my nose, as I noticed that area was also a bit sensitive from the mask. Then I followed the directions as usual. Success!! No itchy feeling at all!! The facial oil ~ and I think any facial oil will work ~ helped control the slight sensitivity I have due to the salt content in this product. I rinsed off after the mask dried and my face is clear, smooth and my pores look smaller.
Please note ~ the irritation I had was minor ~ it was only an itchy feeling and I did not experience any discoloration or redness.
What I recommend
This is just my recommendation. I am not a skincare specialist or expert, but these are my findings through years of using products. What works for me, may not work for you ~ please keep that in mind! Always, always, do a skin test first if you are in doubt. If you experience skin irritation or allergic reactions, do not continue to use this product.
Oily Skin ~ use once a week. If you have sensitive areas, try applying a facial oil first to your face before applying the mask
All other types ~ use only once or twice a month. Dry skin shouldn’t use this that often due to the high concentration of salt in the mud. That said, if you apply a facial oil first, you might be able to partake in the mask’s benefits on a more frequent basis.
Why go to all of this trouble with the oil and then the mask? I do feel that the benefits to detoxing and clearing your skin is worth this little bit of trouble. With any mask or cleanser that contains such a high concentration of salt, you are bound to have some areas on your face that is sensitive to it. There is a reason why Instanatural said to only use once a week.
Instanatural back all of their products with a lifetime 100% money-back guarantee and will refund your purchase price if you aren’t satisfied, so if you have a negative reaction to this product, they will refund you your money. The mask is made in the USA, as is all of their products. The Dead Sea Mud Mask is made in small quantities so you can be assured that it is freshly made.
This 100% all natural Dead Sea Mud Mask is $25.95 US dollars on Amazon.com. Another bonus for me is I have found a use for all of my facial oils which I do not normally use!
