I am really excited about getting my  Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet bag for the month of October 2014 ~ as I got a sneak peek of what their collection was going to be this month in September’s bag… For those who are not aware of what Notoriously Morbid is, they are an indie beauty company, specializing in eyeshadows and lippies, and it is $12.90 a month.  It is a really new subscription and slots are very limited.   Every month, more slots are available, so follow their facebook page and also their facebook group to learn more about deals and when new collections are available!

This month’s theme is “Us and The Dead”

“There’s us and the dead.
We survive this by pulling together, not apart.”
~Rick Grimes

We tried to capture who these characters are, who we see them as. We chose names and shades that stuck in our minds or seemed fitting based on how we feel about the person they represent. There are characters we didn’t include in this VC, given that we chose our favorites or those that we know still have a story to be told. A story that will most likely be bloody.

*Note: This collection is based solely on the television show and not the excellent comic series the show is based on.*

I need to gush about the bag that my Vanishing Cabinet goodies came in.   This was totally unexpected and I LOVE IT.  And yes, I think it is cute, decaying corpses, blood splatters and all!

What did I get this month ~ starting from the top and going clockwise

The Walking Dead canvas bag🙂

Coffin Kisser “Feeling Alive”:  a Georgia Peach Cobbler flavor. We like to imagine Glenn and Maggie settling down and growing big juicy Georgia peaches in another life.    I have so many lip balms, so this will make a good stocking stuffer🙂

“Officer Friendly”: A spice brown with purple, green and gold sparks and a pearl finish.   You don’t want to cross this man of the law.  I received the sample of this in last month’s bag as a sneak peek and it is still a favorite of mine.  I love browns, and this is a nice shimmery brown that isn’t a glitter bomb!

Ingredients: Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, ferric ferrocyanide, magnesium stearate, carnauba wax. **Vegan, not lip safe.

“Silent Samurai”: A lapis/violet with such a strong cerulean shift and so much blue sparkle, it’s the one shadow you’d carry with you during the zombie apocalypse.  This is the brightest one and it is a deep dusky lapis with pink and blue sparkles.   This color is perfect for a smokey eye look

Ingredients: Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, ferric ferrocyanide, carmine, synthetic fluorophylogopite, silica, tin oxide, lauroyl lysine. **Not vegan, not lip safe.

“Cherokee Rose”: A delicate, dusty rose semi-matte with gold shimmer.  Yes, I am a Caryl ~ Carol and Daryl ‘shipper!  This is such a lovely soft rose with just a hint of shimmer.  This will make a great highlighter for your eyes or for your cheeks.

Ingredients: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Iron Oxide, Carmine, Lauroyl Lysine, Ultramarine. **Not Vegan, not lip safe.

Yep, I ship ’em ~ no haters please!

“Pray I’m Dead”: A weathered moss green with gold sparks. Think Daryl Dixon after rolling around in the woods a bit.  This is a very wonderful mossy grey green with a hint of golden shimmers.   This actually goes nicely with Cherokee Rose for a subtle, neutral eye.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, ferric ferrocyanide, iron oxide, boron nitride, lauroyl lysine, ultarmarine. *Vegan, not lip safe.

Don’t Think So Loud ~ This is a lovely lavender shimmer, brighter than Cherokee Rose.  This is our sneak peek into next month’s theme, which looks like it will be True Blood!

Phantom Glam Glitter in Just Another Monster ~ A micro glitter bomb with purple, blue and teal glitters

With Flash

No Flash ~ Out of Focus (to view the glitter shimmer better)

  1. Pray I’m Dead
  2. Cherokee Rose
  3. Silent Samurai
  4. Officer Friendly
  5. Don’t Think So Loud
  6. Just Another Monster

Close Up of the Shadows ~ They even created a special label for this month’s Cabinet!

My favorites are Cherokee Rose and Pray I’m Dead, with Officer Friendly as a great neutral color.  Silent Samurai is SO beautiful.  When I saw it in a preview, I was like ~ wow, that is bright.  But it is such a lovely shade of dusky lapis.  So, I guess I like all of them!!

I LOVE The Walking Dead ~ I just think it is a great character story about people of diverse backgrounds coming together to work together and survive, finding inner strength and self esteem that they didn’t think they had.  And of course, the zombies :)  I have to say, NM is becoming my favorite fun sub!  I loved how they stepped up the same this month and the little Walking Dead bag is so adorable (yeah, it is….zombies and all…it is cute)

Do you subscribe to Notoriously Morbid’s Vanishing Cabinet?  What did you think of this month’s collection and do you have a favorite?
